In 2003 I was a world famous TV presenter. But my spine collapsed & I had to stop work, needing major surgery to keep me alive. During the next few years there was no way I could work & Diane had to care for me. She gave up a £500/week job to claim £50/wk carers allowance 1
Our combined household income including HB paying our rent was under £15000/year. Trying to get well enough to work was a slog & getting back into TV was impossible so I had to retrain & build a new career.
Rather than all political parties targeting people who cannot work... 2

To everybody thinking they have the right to correct #DisabledPeople when they use that term, telling us it should be #PWD STOP. #PeopleFirst is not correct, it's outdated. Maybe listen to us, explore the #SocialModel & be a bit more humble.
