Breaking News: The military has declared an amnesty of over 23,000 prisoners either serving prison sentences or in custody facing trial. High-profile nationalists Wirathu and former USDP MP Hla Swe are expected to be among those released. #2021uprising The amnesty will not only see the release of those charged with sedition under the ousted NLD government, but is also expected to be used to create space in prison for those involved in the ongoing movement against the military coup.

1. Myanmar’s new ruling military council has handed out at least three positions to leaders of parties allied to the #Tatmadaw proxy party, the #USDP.

The latest is Thet Thet Khaing, the leader of the controversial People’s Pioneer Party (PPP). myanmar-now.org/en/news/people… 2. The PPP was founded in 2019 by businesswoman Thet Thet Khaing, who left the #NLD after being suspended for criticizing its leader #AungSanSuuKyi

Myanmar's new military regime has ordered a “temporary” ban on Facebook following widespread public criticism of Monday's coup on the popular platform. The order from the Transport and Telecommunications Ministry instructs all mobile operators, international gateway service providers and Internet service providers to block Facebook from February 3 until midnight on February 7.
