In 2017 when RTI became operational one of the first ever requests filed by @tisrilanka was for then PM @RW_UNP's Asset Dec. 2. Presidential Secretariat under @MaithripalaS appealed against RTI Comm order that these documents should be in the public domain. Court case continued after @GotabayaR became Prez. Still languishing in Court of Appeal.

🚨 Here's a sobering fact about corruption in SL - One or more Sri Lankans have featured in almost every one of the major leaks associated with offshore tax havens from #PanamaPapers to #SwissLeaks and now #PandoraPapers. Go figure. 1/ Add to the fact that these leaks cover only a fraction of this massive industry and it begs the question - is corruption systemic or has it in fact become "endemic", or native to our system of political power and governance? 2/

1. Within the space of a few days I've read an article on an English website dealing with gender based violence and another on a Sinhala paper maligning and potentially inciting violence against a specific woman using images from her social media accounts without her consent. 2. The kicker? Both the English website and the Sinhala publication belong to the same media house. In all honesty, I've seen some great content on the English platform and they've been supporters of progressive causes. On the flip side the Sinhala paper regularly publishes BS.
