This Government once vowed to be “the most nature-positive [we have] ever had”.

Months of blaming wildlife and stripping back protections have already made a mockery of that promise.

And if the rumoured cuts to BNG go ahead, it will deal yet another devastating blow to nature. A Robin sits silhouetted on a bare branch against a muted golden sky, its beak open as if calling out. The scene is quiet and atmospheric, hinting at the fragility of nature at a moment when vital protections are under threat. Biodiversity Net Gain is one of the few tools we have to rebuild lost habitats.

Removing it from small to medium developments would strip protections from up to 95% of applications...and hand developers a giant loophole.

The result? More nature lost. No accountability.
