🧵I have just emailed my returning Labour MP the four recent academic papers that prove the Cass Review is dangerous anti-trans pseudoscience. Opposing Labour's dangerous position on trans rights will require activism and direct action. I see this as a small part of that... Will an email make a different? Most likely not. But it is an action we can all do and one that is easy and immediate to take whilst we plan broader community resistance to what might come. If we can get a couple of Labour MP's on our side against Cass, that helps slightly...

🚨🧵 A Thread detailing what the Tory Party Manifesto says about Trans People... 🏳️‍⚧️

It's going to be horrific but sadly it is still vitally important to outline what is being said by our governing party as they seek re-election...

1/? Page 27 of the Manifesto promises that "the concept of gender identity is not taught to children". This is effectively the promised Trans specific Section 28 style policy that we have been warning about...

The Cass Review denied trans history, in part, to invent an origin and espouse a 'social contagion' myth of being transgender so as to support restrictions for transgender healthcare. This inquiry will do the same. As heritage experts we have a moral duty to challenge that denial A screenshot of a guardian article that reads "Adult Transgender Clinics in England Face Inquiry into Patient Care" Archaeology and Heritage are inherently political. In this instance they are being used to not only tell trans people we have no history, but actviely attack our access to lifesaving healthcare. We must use our expertise to break the myths of transness somehow being new...

The Cass Review disregarded ≈98% of the clinical studies that supported a trans affirmation model of social/medical transition. It then uncritically espoused anti-trans rhetoric to attack trans affirmation. Any idea that the report is neutral or scientific is patently absurd... The Report is 388 pages of Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria framed propaganda without any robust evidence to support its dangerous recommendations. It is a sham.

It ignores or excludes key research and gives privilege to the bigoted views of those that wish to eradicate trans people

So the Cass Review claims that "for many centuries transgender people have been predominantly trans females" (Page 114).

As a someone studyiung a PhD in Transgender Archaeology I'd just like to say this is serious bullshit. No wonder she doesn't include a citation for this! Screenshot of an extract from the Cass Review which reads "For many centuries transgender people have been predominantly trans females, commonly presenting in adulthood" The entire report, ironically considering its claims, is built on shaky foundations. This is just one example.

Fuck me.

🧵 A Thread on how the Lord of The Rings Characters would react to Frodo coming out as Non-Binary...

(Because I needed to do something that made me smile today, enjoy) Samwise says that whilst he might not immediately understand, he will protect his Frodo at all costs and endeavour to learn more about the Non-Binary community. Asks if he is still okay to call them "Master Baggins".

📣 LONDON BASED TRANS RIGHTS PROTESTS

There are two immediately happening to maximise the ability for people to attend in person protests considering it is such short notice.

One Tomorrow, 1300 outside Downing Street

One Wednesday 18th at 1700 also outside Downing Street If you can attend both, attend both. I cant speak for the Wednesday one as I am not able to attend, but tomorrow's one is open invite and decentralised, bring signs and banners, there should be megaphones and anyone can speak their mind to the Tory fucks who will be over the road

I'll be heading to London tomorrow to protest the Tory Government's latest attack on Trans Rights by their Section 35 Order. London, Downing Street, 13:00. Open Invite. Come if you can. Let's make some noise.
#TransRightsAreHumanRights Image (If there has already been a formal march/protest organised I'll join that if people tell me who/where - but I'm not going to do nothing. This will still happen even if it is just me - but the more the better)

I welcome this statement Adam, and hopefully this indicates Plaid is taking steps in the right direction on trans issues. However, how about a long overdue public and formal apology to all members that suffered under Plaid's inaction over transphobia within the party recently? Plaid chose to stand by a potentially electable candidate for the Senedd despite her history of Transphobia being raised within the party, and directly and personally to yourself. You then attended her campaign launch. That's playing politics with trans lives. As of yet there...

Okay so this blown up a bit and a result a lot of people have contributed really good points to this, but others seem to have misunderstood my point and others have, it seems, deliberately misrepresented what I've said so let me just add more clarity... My point wasn't that all older gays see 'queer' as homophobic, I know my queer history and I know it was my queer elders who started to reclaim this and many other words. And I also wasn't saying it was universally true young people are bullied more by being called 'gay'..

I've seen it said before but it's worth repeating, most of the "Stop calling Gay people Queer" people are from an older demographic who don't realise most people my age and younger were bullied not with the word "queer" but the word "gay"... ... and so their arguments of queer being a homophobic slur against the entire community doesn't really work when many of us found out about the word 'queer' long after being called 'gay'. Especially considering how reclaimed the word 'queer' is.

For what it's worth, and with all the caveats of using prison population data to gauge anything about any demographic, the ONS Census shows trans people are proportionally underrepresented in the prison system at 63% of what one would expect based on the wider population... A HMPPS Equalities report from 2021 showed there was 197 trans people in English or Welsh Prisons. The data does have caveats to what they count as trans people so let's estimate the real figure is around 250. Even with this higher that reported figure that means that out of...

As we fight for LGBTQ+ Equality here in the UK the transphobic PM names a #Cabinet full of those opposed to our equality. Who has the PM surrounded herself with, how have they voted for our equality and said about us as the LGBTQ+ community?

A Thread so we can know our enemy 👇 1. Thérèse Coffey MP

The new Deputy Prime Minister voted against extending Gay Marriage Equality to Northern Ireland in 2019 and against allowing it in the UK in 2013. She is also anti-abortion. Picture of Thérèse Coffey MP - the new Secretary of State

🧵 I watched Suella Braverman's transphobic keynote speach she made today for the Policy Exchange so you don't have to.

Here's a thread of everything she said and how and why it will be so damaging 👇

(CW: Trabsphobia, Bullying, Suicide, Tories) Suella opens with a joke, hardly the worst thing she will say today but I think it shows her inhumanity that she sees nothing incongruous about opening a speach explicitly designed to demonise and target trans children with a joke...

🧵 So this is going to be a Thread about what each Tory Leadership Candidate has said about Trans People when they announce their leadership bid...

Shortly the UK Government will begin a debate on legal recognition for Non-Binary Gender Identities. For as long as I'm able to watch this debate I'll share my views on what has been said on this thread👇 Nick Fletcher MP begins by addressing the room and states that he believes Non-Binary do exist, and outlines the petition details which in essence is legally recognising our gender identity as Non-Binary

Wow, 200+ hate comments and climbing about what I said yesterday and almost all along the lines of "men in women's bathrooms" but like a) trans women aren't men and b) at no point did I say my partner or freind were trans women or they were in the women's toilets... The bigots have just assumed that because I said trans they must be trans women and, thus in the bigots mind, men seeking access to women's toilets as predators. Really makes their hateful bigotry clear to see...

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-596677… So the court admits that Gender is a  "a biographical detail which can be used to confirm [identities]" yet fails to thus make the logical step that as Non-Binary people perhaps then to confirm our identities a passport should match the detail that we are Non-Binary? 2/7

🧵 This is a pretty decent analysis in Adam Price and his leadership of the party, especially the hack job of a campaign he coordinated for May 2021. Yet what I think needs to be added is that, having met and talked with Adam many times, is that he is a politicians politician 1/7 What I mean by this is that you can tell he knows how to play the game, cut the deals and indeed make compromises to achieve his singular goal, being 'Y Mab Daragon', the man who brought the Indy vote. This is, I do not believe, a good things. I genuinely thought it possible 2/7
