Ashling Murphy's sister Amy Murphy told Josef Puska: "You were given an Irish welcome and support by the State. You repaid this by brutally murdering a beautiful and talented girl who contributed so much to society.

"You gave evidence before the court demanding your innocence. To add insult to injury you spun a web of lies. I am in total disbelief such evil could attempt to masquerade as a Good Samaritan.

"Before the trial commenced I had hoped Ashling lost consciousness quickly. Unfortunately we know now from the data on her smart watch that she fought long and hard for her life.

"Ashlings last 10 minutes on this earth must have felt like the longest of her existence. You robbed us of our family of five. Our worst nightmare replayed over and over through each piece of footage, each witness. How could any human inflict such hate on innocence.

Smiling and smirking you appeared to get some enjoyment from hearing about Ashling's injuries. #AshlingMurphy #Puska #HowIrelandWorks Ashling Murphy's mother Kathleen's victim impact statement.

"I miss her sweet music. It breaks my heart. Ashling loved playing camogie. I miss going to her camogie and music concerts.

"She was the thoughtful one in our family. She brought us to see Westlife twice. Ashling always looked forward to family coming over to visit. Everyone wanted to be in her company. I miss her smiling face coming home after a days work in school.

"Ashling was every mum and Dad's dream daughter. It was like having a stroke. My heart was ripped from my body. My love and drive for life is gone forever. There is such a void in our life. I can';t bear it.

"I will not go for a walk anymore because I am too afraid of that monster.

"She didn't want to go. It was not her time.

"On the night that news came to our doorstep Ashling's untouched dinner was found in the oven. All the simplicities of life were destroyed in an instant. I believe this coward came from behind and he didn't face her.

"His actions must have consequences. He should never see the light of day again.

"I couldn't protect my darling Ashling and now she's gone forever." #AshlingMurphy

1) I am disturbed by the proposed Criminal Justice (Incitement to Violence or Hatred & Hate Offences) Bill 2022. The Bill removes the presumption of innocence for individuals charged under new hate speech laws & presents significant constitutional concern. #Ireland #HateSpeech 2) In law, this is called a ‘reverse evidential burden’. The introduction of a 'reverse evidential burden' in Part 2 S10(3) is particularly troubling & is repugnant to the Irish Constitution. It should be challenged in the courts.

Here is a summary... #HateSpeechBill #HowIrelandWorks 2/ The Bill is 4 parts: Part 1 deals with definitions & the meaning of protected characteristics. Part 2 provides for new offence of incitement to violence or hatred. Part 3 creates new, aggravated forms of certain existing criminal offences. Part 4 deals with amendments.
