*PERSONAL NEWS* I couldn’t be happier to become today @involveuk 's first ever Director of Climate Programmes.

It means I’ll now be focussing (almost) entirely on public engagement with climate.

And what a time to do it. THREAD. Last week Rishi Sunak said he wants a democratic conversation, to talk to “the broad majority of people” not the “extremes”, with less “emotion” involved, and to work on the basis of “consent not imposition”.

And used that to justify rowing back on a range of climate measures.

Catching up on @theCCCuk assessment of the #NetZero Strategy this morning, as it relates to public participation and engagement.

Some thoughts on that and on the Net Zero Strategy (NZS) itself. The CCC's assessment says "There are positive statements of intent on public engagement… though these are not yet backed by sufficient detail or action. [...] Considerably more action will be required on public engagement and on protection of vulnerable
