1. Why Speaker Randy Weekes' allegations of harassment and threats of violence -- a near head butt, someone lunging towards him, intimidating gestures, harassing text messages -- must be independently and thoroughly investigated.

🧵 2. Like other workplaces in Saskatchewan, the Legislative Assembly is required by law to have a harassment policy.

The Assembly’s "Anti-Harassment Code of Conduct" expressly defines and prohibits harassment. legassembly.sk.ca/mlas/codes-of-…

1. Speaker @randyweekes has alleged harassment & threats of violence: a near headbutt, someone lunging towards him, intimidating gestures, text messages, and even a gun in the Legislature. These are very serious allegations that must be investigated.

A long 🧵... 2. These allegations come at a time when there are more reports about bullying and harassment by local, municipal, and federal politicians. For example, Alicia Bridges @CBCSask's 2018 report entitled "Toxic Towns" newsinteractives.cbc.ca/longform/toxic…

1. Updated comparison of provincial COVID-19 death rates (per 100,000).

Orange bar ~Delta wave (Sept. 1 - Dec. 31, 2021)
Blue bar ~Omicron wave (Jan. 1 - Apr. 30, 2022)

SK had the highest death rate during the Delta wave & second highest rate during ~Omicron wave.

#covid19sk Image 2. Why are COVID death rates higher in SK than, say, AB and MB?

I don't know the answer but I think it would be prudent for the province to conduct an independent, limited scope review to identify factors and lessons learned in preparation for the fall of 2022. #covid19sk

Six months after @globeandmail investigation of unsafe OHS conditions at Cargill's High River, AB plant, site of 938 COVID infections + 2 COVID deaths, @globeandmail selected Cargill as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers.

Here is my correspondence with G&M editors. #canlab 1/ @globeandmail justification of selection of Cargill as Top 100 Employer. "[...] we stand behind our decision to editorially support Cargill’s inclusion on the list." 2/
