THREAD🧵

Who are the reporters hounding the state for *how* we create the underlying conditions req'd for the recovery plan to take effect?

We have a gap of 26k daily tests we need to fill.

What's the plan to close that gap? Known bottlenecks? Who's accountable? Timeline?

1/x We in Washington are quick to give the benefit of the doubt, especially in a time of crisis.

But it's our duty as citizens to hold public officials accountable. Nobody envy's their role. This is their living nightmare. But it's what they signed up for.

*Opinion🧵*

Masks are/always have been a sensible precaution. It's one thing to say "save 'em for our medical heroes" (in which u should explain why we weren't prepared) but another to question their efficacy & say "they won't protect us."

History won't judge this lightly The US Surg Gen is still pushing the "don't use masks" narrative

This is a dangerous level of blame-shifting.

The msg should be "we messed up, we weren't prepared for this even tho we had the chance. We need to save masks for our HCWs, so make ur own"

Let's take a journey back.

HAPPY STORY ALERT: @UW @UWVirology has developed it's own #COVID19 test & expects to be testing 1k-1.5k people per day by the end of the week.

Preparation began @ end of 2019, *just in case* it reached U.S.

That decision will save lives.

Go Dawgs.

q13fox.com/2020/03/04/uw-… They have plans to ramp up testing capacity "substantially beyond" the 1,000-1,500 per day should demand require it.

Seek to move towards a "single swab requirement" which will save resources.
