I’ve just read the ‘special report’ from the #PrivilegesCommittee

Thankfully this one is relatively short

Firstly: their fourth report stated it was specifically authorised to look at @BorisJohnson and no one else
So where is their mandate from the house to criticise multiple MPs/Lords and even @ConsPost ??

After reading the full 110 pages my overriding conclusion is that the Privileges Committee Report into whether Boris Johnson intentionally misled Parliament is a confused word salad of conjecture, contradiction and is rather misleading in and of… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
The basic conclusion of the Privilege Committee investigation is that they find Boris Johnson intentionally misled the house and, in so doing, is found in contempt of the house

Did #SueGray gather the evidence and report the facts of gatherings in Downing Street or did she set the narrative and set the wheels in motion to oust a democratically elected PM? 🧵👇
Was she motivated by her politics or did she simply report the facts?
There were parties - no one is denying that but was her first report prejudicial and was it even necessary?
Imo there are two main aspects of her first report that I find troubling
(FTR the second report I have no issue with- the damage was already done imo by the first)

Now we get onto what @BorisJohnson said in the HoC that could be held to be ‘misleading’
Worth noting that what he was actually asked is as important as what he then said in response
When you’re asked a specific question you answer that question
Examples of Adam Wagner- who you may recall was constantly on @gmb@skynews etc pushing the narrative that it was all about the PM based off #SueGray interim report in January 2022
Also evidence from the Good Law Project themselves that they threatened the @metpoliceuk with being sued if they didn’t investigate #partygate
All in build up to initial #SueGray report.

There is no doubt that there were parties(in the traditional sense)within WM during the covid pandemic
I don’t doubt the evidence contained within #SueGray reports

What never sat right with me in #SueGray ‘s report was that the evidence contained in the final report showed that Boris was barely at these events AND YET

Angry at not being allowed to a funeral? A shop? School?
The people of Manaus would’ve loved to have had a leader who didn’t call them sissys and who enforced some infection control to prevent them attending loved ones funerals
I believe the key to the past years events lie in the Richmond constituency&a few men in grey suits that have been on manoeuvres towards this moment for a few years
Boris was only allowed to be PM to end Brexit
The men in Richmond had a master plan that’s now come to fruition🧵
When I was at my local hustings I was sat chatting to two aids of @trussliz who explained to me that the constituency of Richmond has a long history of getting their MPs to high office and they wanted a PM
The association being a big hitter of influence within the party

Well I’ve just read the #SueGray report and it’s absolutely clear that Blackford has not read it yet
As far as the PM is concerned it’s clear the accusations levelled against him were exaggerated and that the main responsibility lied with Civil servants

A few points on the #NIProtocol that some U.K. commentators would do well to reflect on 🧵
1) the NIP was signed as part of the WA alongside the Political Declaration before the trade deal was agreed
It was agreed before the 2019 GE under conditions of Benn Act

2) The PD states that any future trade deal should protect the internal markets of both the EU and the UK
The current implementation of it by the EU is only protecting the internal market of the EU and undermining the UKs
