World works its ass off so that the US can spend - a thread

No country uses money these days. What they use is currency. And currency is a lie, a complicated lie. Money has an intrinsic value. Currency is a promise and promises are subject to market risks.

“Wee wee wee” - they killed them. They killed women and children also. Boo Hoo Hoo 😭. Oh Come on! - a thread. No one likes to see dead bodies. No one. But that doesn’t mean that, we as a people, start behaving like sissies. And if you tell them to shut up, their response is “imagine yourself at their place”.

Indian Media is pushing headlines like:

"India-China abstain from UNSC resolution against Russia"

It implies that India and China are on the same side. Wrong.

China abstained when it was supposed to vote for Russia.

India abstained when it was supposed to vote against Russia. The absentation of China will please the West as China has always voted for Russia.

The absentation of India will infuriate the West (US, UK majorly) as India has often toed West's line.

India's absentation will please Russia and China's absentation will infuriate it.

The Russia-Ukraine war, China, the world and the confusion – A thread

China is a civilization that tries too hard to be a country. China has had a tumultuous past. It is riddled with the history of Mongolian invasion, Japanese conquest, the opium wars and the so called century of humiliation.

Modi haters are sharing this video with glee, calling Rahul Bajaj the only man with a spine.

I have an alternate take. Bajaj was everything that was wrong with India. Bajaj made substandard scooters that Indians rode with pride. Reason: There was no competition.

Cont… Bajaj is a Private company with a sarkari attitude. It benefited greatly from closed Indian economy.

Bajaj alluded to the Bombay Club, a lobby of industrialists against removing trade barriers. Bajaj knew that once Indians get hooked to quality, it will be curtains for him.

Shukla is right. While his understanding is way off the mark, the information that he has shared is absolutely correct.

First one doesn’t merit any attention but the second point deserves a thread. So here’s a thread. Remember those media reports that talked about the martial superiority of Chinese, both as a race and PLA as a warring unit. Every Chinese movie was about martial art and Indian dailies likened one PLA soldier to 5 Indian soldiers.

Hijab Row: a biological/anthropological take - A thread.

Evolution has been most unkind to women. It’s evolution that gave males the advantage that they currently enjoy. The physical size, muscle strength and same energy levels on all days of the month made man what he became. Pregnancy immobilised a woman for at least 6 months while the (pre-marriage era) male was free to impregnate as many women as he wanted. This led to men gaining more and more superiority at the expense of women.

Elephant in the Room - A thread:

Due to my activities, my FB timeline almost always has a Ketto/Milap ad. Often the ads show a patient struggling to pay medical fees. It’s gut-wrenching to see their condition and heartwarming to see so many people pitching in to help the family 3 days back I saw an ad again. It shook me to the core. A Muslim man had half of his face distorted. The left side of his face had half feet long overgrowth just jutting out of everywhere.

A message to fellow Dharmik Wingers – A Thread
I am not the most enthusiastic retweeter. I post random threads and almost exclusively RT Team TFI members. But we aren’t the world. I am not the only one with a team. 10 years back, the center-right representation was practically non-existent on Social Media. Left Wing Journalists used to set India’s narrative, shamed India internationally, fixed government cabinets, got plum postings and we, we were voiceless.

Stupid people and democracy - a thread

Many candidates who appeared in TFI interviews recently, supported the withdrawal of farm laws wholeheartedly stating that people and more specifically farmers were against it and that they were protesting. Democracies must respect people. When I follow up with “If CAs start protesting against GST, company directors against IBC and builders against RERA, should the government roll back those too?”. The answer is mostly silence or an illogical emotional outburst about people’s right and democracy.

India saw a spate of beauty pageant winners in the 90s. That was the post liberalization India. India became a huge market for health and beauty industry and an Indian winning a beauty pageant was just the push Indians needed to lighten their wallets (or purses). India will see a spate of beauty pageant winners in the next 10 years too. This is the post pandemic India. With a China in decline, India remains the biggest and most resilient market for health and beauty industry.

My favourite interview question is “What are the 3 farm laws and why are they being opposed by some farmers in India?”

Let me quietly demolish this cute little outburst. Whatever I’m going to quote is from Valmiki Ramayan. 1. Ravan is a scholar: this is a myth. Valmiki adorns Ravan with many adjectives, chief among them are - पातकी (sinner), अधम(fallen), राक्षसाधम(worst among Rakshasas), दुष्कृत् (terrorist) and व्यभिचारी (rapist). Scholarly Ravan came into being only in modern interpretations.

India is a hungry country, shame on PM Modi - a thread

The Global Hunger Index (GHI) launched on Thursday ranked India at 101 position out of a total 116 countries. India is also among the 31 countries where hunger has been identified as serious. So is #GHI a UN 🇺🇳 curated list?
Is it an international body?

Umm no, GHI is an index created by a non-profit organization named International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). It was established only in 2006.
