I’ve got my hands on a copy of the 17-page decision.

“… We find that there were no irregularities in the conduct of the nomination meeting that affected the result of the vote or that call the meeting’s integrity into question,” the panel concluded. Image

The panel found that the 34-vote discrepancy Erskine-Smith mentioned in his appeal was the result of a “technical administrative error”that “does not amount to an irregularity.”

Simply: “34 names were not crossed off the voters list when eligible voters received ballot.”

NEW: In a new memo to local school boards, the Ministry of Education says operational closures of schools "must be a last resort."

The Ministry expects school boards to "exhaust all efforts to fill staff vacancies" before moving individual schools to remote learning.

#onpoli The Ministry says it will be "expanding the use of Temporary Certificates to a new cohort of Ontario teacher candidates in order to help provide temporary staffing stabilization in our schools," according to the memo obtained by @newsbeyondca.

NEW: Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board has sent a letter to Education Minister Stephen Lecce to express "grave concern, disappointment, and frustration with the recent change in protocols" and the "total lack of consultation" prior to making the changes.

#onted The board says "there was absolutely no consultation with school boards, trustee associations, unions or directors of education on this significant change."

The board also says that ending case count reporting "lacks the transparency of the system that has worked well."

NEW: Ontario has released new interim public health guidance for schools and child care settings in response to the Omicron variant.

Take-home PCR tests will be provided only to symptomatic students and education staff "who become symptomatic while at school."

#onpoli ImageImage Individuals who test negative on a PCR test must stay home "until their symptom(s) have been improving for 24 hours."

PCR kits "will not be provided to individuals experiencing single symptoms that only require isolation until the symptom is improving," per the Ministry.

NEW: As school boards in Ontario begin planning for the 2021-2022 school year, I've reached out to some school boards across the province regarding their plans for the next school year. (some boards did not get back to me)

Here is what I have learned, so far: TDSB: "Plans for September are still in the process of being finalized. We anticipate on connecting with families to learn their selection (in-person vs virtual) later this month with a deadline in early June."
