Some members of the negotiation team have actively engaged with media upon their return to Kabul from the first round of talks with the Taleban in Doha. Here are some of the lines from their media engagement (THREAD):

#Afghanistan 1) The negotiation team was not divided and did not act based on their political affiliations. The constitution and republicanism served to create a strong consensus among members of the negotiation team from different background (Amin Ahmadi, radionowruz.com/index.php/Post…

Dr Abdullah travelled to Pakistan today for official visit. Media report says 8am.af/abdullahs-trip… he plans to visit Delhi, Tehran, Ankara, Beijing etc. This has led to struggle between Ghani & Abdullah. A few days ago Ghani invited Pak PM to visit Kabul. 1/4
#Afghanistan Earlier, Ghani did not want Abdullah to participate the opening of the intra-Afghan negotiations earlier this month in Doha or wanted him to read the Palace's statement. Abdullah did participate in the opening ceremony & read his own statement 8am.af/abdullahs-trip… 2/4

@Ahmadi_1964 picture of the Taleban saying he would set across them at the negotiation table. He also says that the negotiation team is not seeking to belittle the Taleban & that the Taleban's sentiments & emotions from the last 19 years can be heeded. But he makes a strong case that... 2/4

2 questions discussed in the jirga committees.1) the peace negotiations are supposed to start on 20/5/1399 (10 August) between the Islamic Republic of #Afghanistan & the Taleban. The main obstacle to the start of the direct negotiation is the release of 400 Taleban prisoners. 1/2 These prisoners are convicted of crimes which are beyond the president's authorities based on the constitution. Therefore, a decision should be made about one of the following options & advice/consultation of the consultative peace Loya Jirga about this decision is necessary. 2/4

US state department's 2019 report on international religious freedom, citing Pew Forum, puts Afghanistan's Shia population at "approximately 10-15 percent."

This has produced widespread reactions from the political groups/leaders and activists. 1/5 These include two major Wahdat parties led by Karim Khalili and Mohaqeq as well as VP Danesh. Mohaqeq's Wahdat, for example, in it statement has claimed that this happens while the CIA in 1998 & 2000 had put the Hazara/Shia population at 19 per cent (facebook.com/photo.php?fbid…). 2/5

Gen @ARashidDostum reportedly returned under the condition, among others, that he would not meet Atta and Mohaqeq. Here it shows that the two are the first to greet him as he disembarks the aircraft. #Afghanistan Speakers of the welcome ceremony (Mohaqeq, Atta and MP Lalai Hamidzai) somehow show that the welcome is rather organised by the opposition coalition. This may set the scene for his presence/direction after this.

Any photos or videos of ANSDF having gone into areas controlled by the Taleban and having been welcomed by them as part of ongoing Eid #ceasefire?
So far so good all parties including international forces seem to be presenting good face of them to public opinion.#Afghanistan People also follow the coming of the Taleban into cities with both fear and hope. The fear is what if the ceasefire falls apart? The hope is the Taleban have also finally ceased voilence and may continue to do so. #Afghanistan #ceasefire

Arghandiwal takes issue with Hekmatyar's remarks suicide or martyrdom attack and says: I am not a mufti to issue a fatwa but I do not approve any operation and attack that leads to death of innocent people in our country. #Afghanistan
Arghandiwal also says that 50 per cent share of government demand (by Atta Nur) is not right and that his party and Jamiat had signed an agreement in which they accepted equal shares (of Jamiat and Hezb)
