As @Eugenia_South underscores, #HealthEquity isn’t hard, but it does take intentional work to overcome the inequitable inertia of the status quo.

This weekend in Chicago, our @OakStreetHealth team vaccinated 2000 Latinx people in Belmont-Cragin. Here's how we made it work. 🧵 Our first event launched #ProtectChicago Plus, @ChiPublicHealth + @chicagosmayor's bold strategy to get vaccines into the 15 communities hit hardest by #COVID19.

For months, we'd partnered w local CBOs (@NWSHC @gilbert36ward + others) on testing + more. We'd built trust. 2/

The COVID19 vaccine struggle rages on, w many (including this author) arguing that we have too many doses lying in wait - and that we should overlap 1A+1B.

But I’m realizing this is an overly health system-centric view - we’re nowhere close to done w 1A. 1/ In 24h, we @OakStreetHealth saw 1000+ Chicago community HCWs signal they want the vaccine, most in small independent practices.

In the first 30min, 500 signed up for vaccine appts. 😳

Just because the AMCs have doses to burn doesn't indicate we've reached a saturation point 2/
