At this same clinic on 18 March 2020, a person with heart failure asked me why his personal risk from COVID-19 was much worse than baseline risk. (2/5)

Led by Atsunori Nanjo, our MSc @UCL_IHI student, we showed that CVD is more common and more deadly in homeless individuals, compared with their housed counterparts @ESC_Journals (1/6) academic.oup.com/eurheartj/adva… In UK linked electronic health records, we identified 8492 homeless individuals, comparing with 32 134 matched housed individuals, from 1998 to 2019. We studied 12 types of CVD including heart attack, stroke, peripheral artery disease and cardiac arrest. (2/6)

Our preprint @medrxivpreprint led by @PerspectumGroup @MayoClinic @AllianceMedica1 Multiorgan impairment in low-risk individuals with long COVID. medrxiv.org/content/10.110… 201 symptomatic individuals a median 140 days after initial COVID-19 symptoms and low risk in terms of age (mean 44yrs), risk factors, underlying conditions and hospitalisation (18%).

Clinic today done over the phone as has largely been the case since March. We have learned so much about what we can do but also about the limitations of telemedicine. Also why we need coordination of public health. THREAD COVID-19 has taught us how joined up health, healthcare and public health need to be. I mainly deal with patients with heart problems like heart failure. Like many people with chronic diseases, they face a dual impact from the pandemic.
