The many outrageous delays in @USCIS processing have been well-documented. The belief that many immigration advocates had that @POTUS's @USCISDirector would usher in an era of well-run government has been dashed long ago. Instead, it is the same old mess at USCIS with simple and routine things taking many months to get decided. The asylum backlog, still in 2016, has been well-documented but not enough attention has been paid to the delays in provisional waivers (I-601A).

So there is now a director of the @USCIS! Welcome @UrJaddou! Can you please do something about the multiple problems with the following scenario? Guy is here on a work visa. Follows in love and marries an American. They file for his residence in January 2021. When filing for residence, it is routine to ask for employment authorization (“EAD”) and permission to travel while your residence application is pending.

More of the same garbage. The last decade has been marked by what former immigration judge Paul Schmidt calls "aimless docket reshuffling." This never-ending shuffling results in the chaos that has defined the immigration court system. I have multiple clients who were placed into immigration court proceedings between 2010 and 2015 who want nothing more than to have their cases heard. But docket reshuffling has bumped them from the calendar days before final hearings because the bureaucrats reset priorities.

Why is there no movement on #VenezuelaTPS? Why hasn't the new administration done this incredibly obvious and simple political lay-up? Surely, there can be no doubt that #Venezuela presents conditions of violence, strife, chaos and unrest sufficient for #TPS.

We need a Democratic debate about immigration. It is all the cartel boss in the White House talks about. How about having more than one dumb ass question about Dreamers in a debate? Here are some suggestions: What does “comprehensive immigration reform” mean to you? What are essential goals of immigration reform legislation?

On November 21 at 530 AM, @ICEgov officers were hanging out in a hallway in a residential building popular among Central American families in NW DC. They didn’t seem to be looking for anyone in particular. A man opened the door to his apartment to go to work at 530 when he found the officers in the hall. They did not know his name but demanded entrance into his apartment.

In April 2015, the government decided that my client got her green card through fraud and they were going to do something about that. So they initiated proceudres in the immigration court in Arlington VA go take away her green card. In those proceedings, the government must prove by clear and convincing evidence that the green card was fraudulently obtained.

To recap: for four hours a group of 15 asylum seekers have sat peacefully on US soil at The Otay Mesa port of entry. They are mostly kids but there is a family who you will remember from the famous photo of the tear gassing. They arrived around 2pm PST with lawyers @cabrown08 @karalynum, me, and two members of Congress @RepBarragan and @RepJimmyGomez and a number of law student volunteers from @AlOtroLado_Org
