Recently I visited the magnificent Elephanta caves. Was it the konkan Mauryas, or the Kalachuris or the Chalukyas (Pulikeshin II?) who excavated these magnificent caves, I don't know (no expertise). But what I know is that it must have been one of the best Shivalayas of its time. While there are a few caves, will be posting pics from the main cave and following the sequence as shown in the below pic. 😃

Today with my #WalkToTemple trip, I realise that I have completed a unique milestone.

In the list of top 10 tallest Gopurams in India (possibly the world), I've covered the 8 that are in Tamil Nadu.

Once I visit Hampi (10th) and Murudeshwar (2nd), I'd have covered all 10. 🙂 9. South Gopuram of Meenakshi Amman temple.

A what-if scenario:
Court opens #Sabarimala to women capable of child bearing. Activists will engineer a 'violent act where enraged devotees attack a woman'.

I fear that this is where we'll end up. Beefed up security, all sorts of impositions on devotees, even a closure. The larger ramifications for worshipping a Tantric deity is just unthinkable.

It will be a sad day for Hinduism if the verdict ends in opening up of the temple against the Agamic rules.
