Each of the last four presidential election periods have shown an unmistakable pattern: Hate crimes increase during elections, as Maya Berry of @AAIUSA details here.

Read through the ways we can combat hate in our report, Cause for Concern. bit.ly/4d8NdnE
@AAIUSA Disappointed that today’s Senate Judiciary hearing on rising hate crimes was derailed by anti-Arab & anti-Muslim vitriol directed at @iMayaBerry, executive director of @AAIUSA & co-chair of our Hate Crimes Task Force. Let’s focus on her message of solidarity and action—not hate.

The civil rights community is outraged that the extremist majority of the U.S. Supreme Court has once again demonstrated it will place the interests of the rich & powerful over decades of settled law and the protection of our civil & human rights. #Chevron civilrights.org/2024/06/28/sup… Today’s decision by lifetime appointees, the majority of whom are ideologically extreme, is an attack on the very idea of laws and democracy and wrongly allows judges to substitute their opinions for that of the subject-matter expertise of public servants.

This is devastating.

“The attacks on him are unwarranted, they are untruthful, they have no basis in fact, and sadly they smack of bigotry.”

Thank you, @SenBooker, for calling out the baseless and bigoted attacks against 3rd Circuit nominee Adeel Mangi.

History will remember this moment. BOOKER: “What did they do when the first Muslim tried to reach for the appeals court to serve as a judge? What happened to him? This is the story that'll be told. This is toxic. This is dangerous. This is cancerous. The attacks recall some of the darkest chapters of our history.”

BREAKING: @POTUS just announced five new judicial nominees, including Nicole Berner for the 4th Circuit, Adeel Mangi for the 3rd Circuit, and three district court nominees.

We thank the president and celebrate these historic nominations. #CourtsMatter whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/… Nicole Berner is a brilliant lawyer whose critical professional and lived experience will be a tremendous benefit to the 4th Circuit – and she’ll be the first openly LGBTQ judge to ever serve on this court.

We thank @SenatorCardin and Sen. @ChrisVanHollen for their leadership.

THREAD. It's not just #SCOTUS: With the help of @SenateMajLdr and @ChuckGrassley, Trump is trying to take over the entire federal bench. While we fight to #StopKavanaugh, here's what you should know this week about the lower courts and Trump's judicial takeover. #courtsmatter This week, the Senate is set to vote on 5th Circuit nominee Andrew Oldham and 9th Circuit nominee Ryan Bounds – two more Trump judicial picks who are young, white, male, and extreme. It’s a disturbing pattern and a huge setback for judicial diversity in America. #courtsmatter
