After at least a fortnight of increasingly crap stuff happening I've not had much energy or motivation to do much of anything.
But I have just started turning my attention to several War Diaries for units deployed to East Yorkshire on anti-invasion defence. In this case, the war diary of the 2/6th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, who were one of the first units deployed to defend Filey Bay in June 1940.

Time for a thread. As an archaeologist, I spend most of my time looking at wartime defences to work out how they would be used and how they were sited in the landscape to be most effective.

Every so often I get to look at documents to add further meaning to surviving defences, which is a hugely important. This make me very happy. Unfortunately, documentary research is rarely undertaken for anti-invasion defences. This makes me very sad.

1) Today I’ll be looking at the @CITiZAN1 project’s Low Tide Trails (LTTs) and how these have been adapted for digital engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m the North Team’s CITiZAN Community Archaeologist and one of my roles is to develop LTTs for the project. #PATC52) @CITiZAN1 is the Coastal and Intertidal Zone Archaeological Network. We highlight the threat of coastal erosion to archaeological sites on the foreshore and help members of the public engage with and record archaeological sites that are at risk. citizan.org.uk#PATC5
