The One Earth Voices article is out and I contributed to it, with a simple yet important message: free low-carbon public transport is key for climate justice. sciencedirect.com/science/authSh… Estonia and Luxembourg are pioneers for free public transport in Europe. It has been particularly popular among the low-income earners, the young and the elderly in Tallinn, supporting health improvements through reduced pollution and increased physical activity.

Today I unfollowed several folks with the confidence of climate scientists who have publically denounced the recent @JustStop_Oil actions and similar actions inspired by them, particularly the ones targeting works of art. /a thread We academics make a living out of criticising the work of others while also making space for our own. Maybe it is a habit now. Yet, we live in a time when we - as academics - need to help unite and support the climate movement. Literally, for the sake of life.

The carbon #inequality in the EU is staggering. This reflects inequality of consumption and access to basic services, but also inequality in the capacity to avoid/improve consumption carbon footprints. New paper ALERT by @RichardW_ntnu and me @CambUP_GSus! tinyurl.com/ybjs26ak Imagine EU's emissions in the form of a BIG pile of waste. Just 10% of the region's population make more waste than 50% of the population. Where the biggest 1% wasters make 22 times more waste than their allowance. That is, the per capita allowance to stay within 1.5°C.
