Here's what every journo who was at or watched the presser knows. The legislation enables the government to optionally extend the state of emergency four weeks at a time for a maximum of another 12 months. It *does not* extend the state of emergency for 12 months, like they said!
"We will extend the state of emergency provisions within the Public Health and Wellbeing Act" is *not* the same as extending the state of emergency, as media reported. Any competent person should be able to comprehend that, but the answer in the tweet above removes any doubt.

@EmergencyBK@Razmus29@HazyShift@richardhill86 1. To answer this takes much more than a single tweet. But I'll try to cover the key points in as few as possible. I'll be leaving *heaps* out. The Integrated model, as it was working, wasn't good for public or firefighter safety and ultimately for morale. 1/@EmergencyBK@Razmus29@HazyShift@richardhill86 When you're dealing with safety matters of life & death, your safety processes must be reliable. But the Integrated model relied on the inherently unreliable: volunteer response. CFA professional crews were exposed to preventable risk because adequate vol backup didn't arrive.2/

"Lying by juxtaposition" is totally spot on. Apart from just flat-out lying, juxtaposition is probably the technique of deception journalists use most often. A couple of examples to follow.
Liberal for Monbulk John Schurink is blatantly lying to voters on Facebook. As a former member of the CFA Board, Schurink would certainly know the claims he is making are false & misleading. I'll pick out some examples in this thread. 1/ #springst#vicvotes@rwillingham
Schurink is conflating the 2016 CFA EBA as proposed by the Fair Work Commission with the 2017 fire service reforms. The reforms *remove* UFU members from the CFA. There will be *no* EBA and therefore *no* influence on CFA decisions, let alone "veto" or "control". 2/

Dear @kristenahilton, all of people you should know better than to deny the lived reality of the victims of discrimination, harassment and bullying. You need to apologise or resign. This 👇 happened (thread, cc @Raf_Epstein ). Source with links to orig: medium.com/@ebatruth/fire…
