Lol, because of this tweet, BuzzFeed disabled all of the settings that would have allowed us to do this. (As in, they literally changed settings overnight.)

Lovely to know how much you mean to a place after 10 years. Fuck me for getting my final piece up instead of backing up my shit, amiright?

HELP REQUEST: Despite pleas from employees who have been here for most of their careers, BuzzFeed has decided not to adjust its Google Workspace settings to allow us to download our Google Drives or email inboxes. If anybody knows a workaround to do this, we’d all appreciate it. In particular, not being able to access our old inboxes will make it incredibly difficult to maintain relationships with sources, experts, and other valuable contacts. You know, people you need to talk to when you’re a reporter.

Here we go: Prince Harry's ITV interview with @tombradby about his memoir #Spare is airing now:

It looks like YouTube has once again deranked anti-Meghan Markle channels from search results in order to keep the often hateful and conspiracy theory-laden videos from unsuspecting viewers.

A search for her name yields only results from legitimate media outlets: I wrote about the community of anti-Sussex YouTube channels last year: buzzfeednews.com/article/elliev…

VERY interesting Private Eye item on ANOTHER use of stock footage in Harry and Meghan's Netflix show:

In episode 2, as commentators are talking about the evils of the UK tabloid industry, video of the @Independent's newsroom is shown.

I found it on Getty; it's from 2000. ImageImageImage Here's the link. (The Getty editorial number is #645005642.) gettyimages.com/detail/video/i…

This is an important detail that I’m seeing a lot of people ignore/misinterpret:

Meghan said she wanted to go to an inpatient mental health facility when she was suicidal. Not call a therapist. Not see a psych.

(I explicitly confirmed this w/ their spokesperson in 2021.) Specifically, I confirmed this with a Sussex spokesperson when I asked for comment on WHY Harry didn't go to his family for help with Meghan when she was suicidal. Their PR team confirmed she sought inpatient treatment.

The final three episodes of #HarryandMeghanNetflix just dropped.

Here's my thread: Image Harry and Meghan cut their wedding cake with a sword at their wedding reception in St. George's Hall at Windsor Castle:

An important thing to remember when you see hashtags like #GoHomeMeghanMarkle trending:

A concentrated set of fewer than 100 users drive 70% of the hate content targeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Twitter. buzzfeednews.com/article/elliev… (Although in this case it looks like pro-Sussex people have taken over the hashtag to get it trending. Still worth noting!)

Question: has there ever been a situation where Harry and Meghan fans / the Sussex Squad swarmed to leave nasty and negative comments on the social media pages of charities associated with the Cambridges?

(I'm serious + asking in good faith, I cannot remember it ever happening.) I'm obviously asking in light of @WellChild being attacked on multiple platforms for posting about the Sussexes' upcoming event.

It's happened to charities associated with Harry and Meghan *countless* times, but I can't recall the reverse ever happening

This story will be coming either tomorrow or early Saturday, as I’m off next week. At the request of a YouTube spokesperson, I agreed to give them additional time to respond. (In their defense, I asked a LOT of multipart platform guidelines questions.) (Since I’ve been writing for a bit before bed, to be clear: the story is about, BROADLY, royal YouTube. So, YouTube’s terms of service, posting/community guidelines, enforcement policies, account monetization, etc. in that context. But, as I said, it’s for tomorrow. 🛌😴💤)

McKayla Maroney is ANGRY, excoriating the FBI in her testimony, saying that they covered up for a child molestor for more than a year after she reported Larry Nassar's abuse Aly Raisman, in her testimony, said the FBI's inaction and the actions of specific agents allowed Larry Nassar to victimize innocent children:

THREAD: I'm covering the Senate Judiciary hearing on the FBI's dereliction of duty in the Larry Nassar Case:

Gymnasts Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Maggie Nichols will be testifying:

Simone Biles, McKayla Maroney, and Aly Raisman preparing their statements as senators deliver their opening remarks.

Each senator so far have censured the FBI for failing in their investigation, categorizing them as enablers to Larry Nassar's abuse.

Hello from Judge Lewis Kaplan's virtual courtroom, where a pretrial conference is set to begin soon in the case of Giuffre v. Prince Andrew. The Duke of York is accused of sexually abusing Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre when she was underage. buzzfeednews.com/article/skbaer… Although there was speculation that no lawyers for Prince Andrew would be at this hearing, earlier today prominent Hollywood entertainment attorney Andrew Brettler filed a notice telling the court that he’ll be representing the Duke.

Per documents just filed in NY federal court, Prince Andrew *will* be represented by counsel in today's first hearing in the sexual abuse lawsuit filed against him by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre.

The duke's lawyers will contest jurisdiction and if he was properly served. Prince Andrew will be represented by Los Angeles-based attorney Andrew Brettler, of the well-known and high-profile entertainment litigation law firm Lavely & Singer. Image

Wait, I should do a thread with the other Palace on-the-record stuff that I found that didn't make it into the story.

1.) Some of them are pretty amazing.

2.) I'd like to preemptively answer/explain/get ahead of questions/abuse about "cherrypicking" before I go to bed Yeah, I still have way too much post-publication adrenaline. Let's do this thing.

I wonder if I should just start a thread to preemptively answer questions I know are likely to be asked by angry people in my mentions.

Mostly to save time, haha. I genuinely enjoy engaging in good faith discussions about the royal family on here 🤞🏻 (Or, I guess, if anybody has any questions I can answer them here?)

Once I get this story up, it's gonna be [redacted] for you [redacteds] Look all I am saying is that I literally am taking next week off to make up for the fact that I’ve been working on this story during what is supposed to be a PTO week. I’m all about that work-life balance and would not do this for many stories.
