#OTD 1966 • The Aberfan Disaster 🥀

On Friday morning, the 21st of October 1966, a wave of coal waste slid down the Aberfan Valley, taking the lives of 116 children and 28 adults with it.

#Wales #History At approximately 9.15 am, the coal waste hit Pantglas Junior School and destroyed several houses nearby.

In less than five minutes 116 children and 28 adults were killed - the majority within the primary school walls.
