#OTD 1912 • At 11:40pm, the RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg during its journey to New York.

Two and a half hours later, the ship sank, resulting in the tragic loss of over 1500 lives.

#OTD 1966 • The Aberfan Disaster 🥀

On Friday morning, the 21st of October 1966, a wave of coal waste slid down the Aberfan Valley, taking the lives of 116 children and 28 adults with it.

#Wales #History Image At approximately 9.15 am, the coal waste hit Pantglas Junior School and destroyed several houses nearby.

In less than five minutes 116 children and 28 adults were killed - the majority within the primary school walls.
