AN ANGRY IMMIGRATION 🧵

My head spent much of the week working on a case that’s essentially about money while my heart clamors to provide comfort and support to the poor folks who’ve come to this country to escape violence and privation, (1/14) only to see a couple of callous performative gubernatorial 💩weasels manufacture chaos by using ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS as props - funded by taxpayers - in an effort to puff up their chests and score political points.

The governors didn’t fly the planes themselves, though.

Final Pre-Vote Thoughts on the 2020 NH Primary: A Thread

Every sentient American understands the stakes of the 2020 election. We here in the early voting states have been - to varying degrees - immersed in an unprecedented whirlwind campaign cycle for the last year. 1/ I've posted before about how, as a 2016 Bernie delegate, I came to support @ewarren this time around. I won't rehash that in detail here [link: ], mostly because I'm not sure my experience matters, and I'm pretty sure that it mostly shouldn't. ;-) 2/

THREAD

With the airing of @ewarren's new NH ad in which I appear, I'm getting gentle (& not-so-gentle) pushback from some Bernie folks. So, for anyone who's interested, I'd like summarize why I decided to back a different progressive candidate this cycle. 1/
#AllOfUs4Warren Not surprisingly, this decision resulted from a combination of factors, but in early 2019, when I reflected as soberly as possible (largely putting aside emotion) & considered how things had changed since 2016, I decided that EW would be a more effective executive/manager. 2/

Fake ICE University ... a thread.

This entire scenario is a grotesque perversion of all that is right & just. I represented one of the students. They had scrupulously done everything to remain in lawful status at two prior legitimate universities. 1/

freep.com/story/news/loc… On the word of a friend, this client enrolled at Farmington U in order to continue their studies while also working legally. They were told the school offered online learning, flexible schedules, and reasonable (though hardly cheap) tuition. 2/

As the #DemocraticDebate is happening, let me say a few words about @ewarren ... yes - I’m sorry to say - a thread. 1/ I supported Bernie Sanders in 2016. Like, really, really supported ... as in, was a Bernie delegate at the DNC in Philadelphia. 2/

In 2015, I was an early supporter of & 2016 DNC delegate for Bernie Sanders. I am an immigration lawyer, and am active in progressive politics and causes. I live in NH, where politics literally spills into my backyard.

I now support @ewarren. #WinWithWarren

May I share why? 1/ I like, respect, and admire Bernie Sanders. To me, he’s a “values candidate”, and I am grateful for his contribution to moving the public discourse - and the Democratic platform - towards more just policies. 2/
