We’re here with @TransEquality & @glaad to bust some myths. #Paris2024 FACTS AND MYTHS: OLYMPIC BOXERS IN THE PARIS 2024 OLYMPICS MYTH: There were women boxers in this year’s Olympics who competed without being eligible. (The @iocmedia myth-busted this one!) Did women boxers in this year’s Olympics break eligibility criteria? No. All women boxers met eligibility criteria and have been defended by the IOC. Two boxers were previously disqualified from the International Boxing Association last year,  in a decision the IOC called “sudden” and “arbitrary.” Both boxers previously competed in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

The discrimination faced by Caster Semenya today is another example of the intense ignorance faced by women athletes who have differences in their sex traits. Intersex women are women. Trans women are women. ALL women's bodies are different. #thread theguardian.com/sport/2019/may… Caster Semenya is a record-making South African runner. She was thrown into the spotlight for having higher than average natural testosterone levels, and traits that some critiqued as being not 'feminine' enough, as if there is one way to look like and be a woman.
