Rolling Stone published an article on Long Covid and kids - this is needed.

The article, however, is an object lesson in how false framing and deliberate omission operate to mislead the public, even when at long last reporting on a critical public health emergency.
👇 A few examples and an explanation of why this type of reporting contributes to harm even as it’s ostensibly informing ppl.

E1: wholly omitting the complicity of the Biden admin, who funneled Covid research funds to cops, declared pandemic over, kicked millions off Medicaid.

If you once masked “to protect the vulnerable” and then you stopped at some point, you prioritized personal comfort and social convenience over community care. And quite honestly, over other peoples’ lives.

What’s worse is you refuse to admit it. Even to yourselves. You want us to pretend you are committed to things you are not, because you have an image of yourselves as good people, caring people.

If indeed you are caring, you will be willing to confront that your commitment to community care ended when we needed it most.

The ableist left will eat itself all on their own. We should just leave them to it. I grieve that I feel this way. But these ppl have no commitment to solidarity, at least not with disabled ppl, no understanding that our position gives us a perspective that is critical to consider for the sake of their own futures. They REFUSE to believe it.
So why waste energy?

Hey everybody, don’t worry, you can still be considered “radical” if you don’t give a single fuck about the lives of immunocompromised and disabled ppl and don’t feel any imperative to embody solidarity with us! The majority of the left (and the rest of society) is with you. Yay! Are you really radical though?

Do you need a populace that you feel you don’t even have to care about or think about or listen to or question your attitudes towards, a populace already so marginal to you you pretend we don’t exist?

I come from a liberal family and let me tell you, their moral conscience is not functioning properly. They’ve built their worldview in reaction to generational (inherited and replicated) trauma they are unwilling to reckon with, denial, avoidance and projection. They are hegemonic, profoundly uncomfortable with anything outside of their narrow spectrum of acceptable social and political expression, all while patting themselves on the back for being so “progressive” and multicultural.

This is how they trained ppl to

1) think you are separate from that group she’s calling “unwell to begin w”

2) accept that those preventable deaths are inevitable & a good thing for society

It’s called EUGENICS.

Why was it so easy for them to manufacture your consent for it? Example 2: Fauci’s “the vulnerable will fall by the wayside”. More consent manufacturing for eugenics.

In order to sell you on the forever pandemic, they had to train you to think that it’s relevance for YOU is already in the past.

They had to get you to believe that YOU were inherently different from “the vulnerable,” who they cast as <the other>. Once they got you believing you would never be among “the vulnerable,” secure in a false confidence that 👉those people👈 are <other>, it kinda made sense that many of you would become emotionally invested in <othering> those ppl who are more vulnerable than you (currently).

I’d like to break down just a little Ashish Jha’s most recent propaganda attempt.

Below are screenshots from a recent interview he gave on the Chris Cuomo show (will link interview at bottom). Here we witnessed him clearly and dishonestly claiming to be the voice of moderation while framing anyone who is reading the data and knows this pandemic is very serious as fringe and extreme. He next uses that framing to portray masking itself as extreme and unreasonable.

Saw a 🔵cultist argue tonight that Trump is more dangerous than Biden bc “he’s funded by organized crime,” 🇷🇺 and such, and “Biden’s only beholden to the corporate class.”

And I realized — liberals don’t think US empire is organized crime. But, like, it’s the boss of all bosses. A racket in its entirety.

Do you understand that the US corporate and white imperial power structure is organized crime?

Liberals refuse to admit it. Refuse to see it. Refuse to admit that not only is “their team” as bad as the other bad guys, they are the worst of the worst.

People at lower risk from poor outcomes from a Covid infection calling people at higher risk sanctimonious scolds and purists for reminding you that your behavior choices = life or death for us (those currently more vulnerable than you) - what are you trying to accomplish? You’re trying to silence us because we’re reminding you that your behavior has high costs for those more vulnerable or marginalized than you, while we are encouraging people to center the most vulnerable so that everyone is protected and every life is considered valuable.

I feel like the Covid minimizers give away their intellectual dishonesty right from the get-go because they refuse to even acknowledge the POSSIBILITY that a novel pathogen that we have the teeniest tiniest amount of evolutionarily history with (3+years) could be devastating. The denial that we are experiencing a plague is reflexive, despite the fact they are a recurring theme through human history. And a reactivity to the mere suggestion that the odds of experiencing long term damages due to the novel pathogen SARS-CoV-2 are anything but minuscule.

You must pay attention to the vicious mischaracterizations of the most marginalized ppl the media/government shoves down your throats every fucking day.

They are escalating the rhetoric. They are targeting the disabled, elderly, the medically vulnerable & CHILDREN FFS

They are targeting Black, Indigenous and brown people. They are targeting trans and queer people, they are targeting the poor, and the homeless, while imposing policies that make sure that scores and scores more of us end up poor, homeless, disabled, dead.

The evil you make excuses for, the evil you rush to defend, the evil you sanction… you refuse to countenance the harm done by your cul… ahem… team: white western empire & capitalism. The best part is it enrages them when anyone points out that despite the theater and different roles being played, both teams are pro: US imperialism, capitalism, corporatism, white supremacy, eugenics, global hegemony, creating poverty then punishing the poor. Sadistic stuff.

I need to learn how to remove my attention, efforts and energies from the people who simply, for one reason or another, have no intellectual honesty or desire for the truth. Time to recognize that a lot of people don’t care what’s true, and will buy into whatever narrative is most convenient for them.

They are training you to automatically and unquestioningly perceive a whole class of people as utterly disposable, as in our lives don’t matter to you and you consider our “unfortunate” deaths to be an acceptable cost as long as your Normal isn’t too disrupted. Meanwhile there are millions of disabled & chronically ill ppl, esp many w ME/CFS & LC trying to communicate to you that until you experience it, you can’t understand the ravages of chronic illness, so for that reason you should listen to us.

Maybe what’s happening underneath all the denial and minimization is that people have a sense, even if they are buying-in hard to the lies, they have a subconscious sense that societal collapse is underway. Those who lack the will to confront it honestly are dissociating. Of course it’s also true that peoples’ character is being revealed - many people, it turns out, simply don’t care how horrible things are as long as it’s not them experiencing it. And they just keep telling themselves, it won’t be me…
