Hey everyone! I’m back online from hiatus and it's been an interesting few weeks. As I'm sure some have been wondering (and asking), I wanted to make sure to set the record straight on why I am no longer at Amistad. Buckle up for a thread… #ICYMI
On August 29, 2022, at around 10am ET, I was abruptly informed that the Senior Editor role at Amistad was being eliminated and thus my services in this position were no longer needed. I was also told that my official last day at HarperCollins would be September 9th. (1/?)

[Puts on editor hat] #writers, PLEASE believe you will have more ideas and good ones at that. Getting a rejection is not the end all be all of your career or ideas. Every publication is different, every editor is different. There are more chances.
As I say, repeatedly, I give VERY specific feedback when I reject something. It can be as simple as the subber NOT reading the publication or as thorough as the piece not working for various reasons.

Y'all can I discuss a #microaggression that occurred last week at an #AWP19 after-party? Because, as I told my co-workers this morning, it is indicative of a continual issue in forward momentum in the industry and in the country.
I also want to note that I was not the only person to witness this event. Another women of color and a friend who identifies as nonbinary and is queer (white) were also right there to witness this.
