A bit late on social media today as digital medium doesn't give you much time to go for long strolls.
But here's a summary of @moneycontrolcom Personal Finance's coverage of Budget 2024. ⏬⏬ #BudgetWithMC
The new income tax regime gets sweeter
✅Slab rates slightly tweaked. Basic exemption not raised, but slab rates made more attractive. The rebate continues.
✅Standard deduction under the new regime goes up to Rs 75,000, up from Rs 50,000 earlier.
✅Standard deduction is a flat deduction in taxable income. Available to salaried individuals and pensioners. Easiest to give away, no documents required. And it is a flat deduction; your taxable income comes down by that extent.
✅Old income tax slabs remain unchanged. The finance minister was frank in saying that although there is no visibility on the sunset of the old regime, the new regime is the way forward.
✅I think we now have to accept that Section 80C, Section 80D and other tax deduction benefits are a benefit of the past.
Check out how much you save from the new tax regime tweaks made in Budget (July) 2024 🔽🔽

Nomination in a financial instrument is often touted to be an important tool in succession planning. But reality can be quite different.
Let's look at a case study.
Suresh is a Hindu male. Wife: Laxmi. Children: Mahesh and Stuti. Suresh has named his wife Laxmi as the nominee.
After the primary holder's death, the nominee can get the bank account money that belonged to the primary holder. But s/he is answerable to the legal heirs.
