Time for a big thread about Application Specific Rollups (like @loopringorg) + General Purpose Rollups (like basically everything else) 🧵
On how they often get lumped together, even though they couldn't be more different, and how they are complimentary not in competition👇
In 6months-a year, you're going to hear non-stop about #zkEVMs
They really are the endgame for Ethereum scaling on L2 + I couldn't be more excited for this💜
But this often leads people to believe that App Specific rollups will be left behind - this couldn't be more wrong

I think calling this @opensea exploit a hack isn’t fair - sounds like it was a social exploit (phishing attack) on users of the app
The real failure here (imo) is that as an industry we still basically require + promote users to use these insecure, “dumb” wallets w/ apps

If you haven’t, please read @VitalikButerin ‘s blog on this subject - “Why we need wide adoption of social recovery wallets”

In order to reach billions of users, we NEED mass adoption of “Smart” wallets like @loopringorg ‘s💙

As #Ethereum transitions to Layer 2, I want to try to help the average user understand this change better
Quick thread on what is 'Layer 2' + how do I use it? Using @loopringorg Layer 2 as an example
From the viewpoint of someone who has a Coinbase account + Metamask address
👇
A good way to think about wallets + addresses in #crypto is that every address has multiple Layers built into it - but requires special integration to access each Layer
A new "wallet" creates a new "address"
A new "address" has Layer 1 + Layer 2 levels already built in
