Amazing how many photos & videos detailing Bach’s “hands on medical care” were left out of the @NewYorker article. Pay attention to how perpetrators of violence against Black people are portrayed. Rather than using this photo, we see her feeding horses?

There was enough space to see Bach feeding horses, to hear about the confederate flags in the Virginia Christmas parade & to learn that Bach wants to “move into section 8 housing in California”...

On sharing graphic images of Black bodies suffering: At some point, the world found dignified ways to raise awareness & tell stories of white suffering. Soldiers dying in war, opioid crisis, homelessness, child abuse, domestic violence... the list could go on. For some reason (well, we KNOW why) ya’ll are convinced there is no way to raise awareness about the suffering of Black & Brown people w/o sharing that suffering in graphic detail . We KNOW that this is not true. It is possible to protect folk while advocacting WITH them.

That 10 day mission or service trip you are taking this summer to #Uganda #Honduras #Nepal #Cambodia or #Haiti is trash and we are going to give you 8 reasons why:

1) You aren’t qualified. You have no relevant or useful training, experience or specialization. 2) It is a poor use of money. That $2,000 that you and each member of your “team” is spending? Invest it in the projects you think you’re helping instead.

3) It’s about you. This *experience* is actually not about the needs of “the people “ you are visiting in that country.
