When it comes to education, conservatives really like to cite the Fraser Institute as the Bible. Well, considering their methodologies are suspect, people working for them don't exactly have credentials in their supposed area of expertise (remember that case in BC?), 1/n and, in general, they don't have any sense of rigor, they should not be taken seriously. It's pseudoscience at best.

For example, take Braemar school in EPSB. FI ranks them low because they're not high academic. They also ignore the purpose of Braemar. 2/n

One week ago, my grandmother phoned me with some pretty shit news. She told me my grandfather has been diagnosed with cancer. Hearing that about any loved one would sting, but this one is a knife to the heart. (1/n) My grandparents were the ones who actually raised me. As well, I didn't meet my biological father until I was 14, so my grandfather played the role (very well) of surrogate father. He's not my father by blood, but in every other sense of the word, he is. (2/n)

With the new curriculum drafts rolling out, you hear a lot of (uninformed) people going on about getting rid of “dIsCoVeRy MaTh” in the curriculum. First, it’s NOT in the curriculum because it’s a pedagogical practice. #abed #abpoli 1/ Second, there is a difference between the curriculum and pedagogical practices. This seems to be a point many miss and it’s actually very important. #abed #abpoli 2/
