Late last night, I proudly voted in support of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, commonly referred to as the bipartisan #infrastructure bill. I want to take a moment to update you on why this legislation is so crucial to Alaska. [🧵THREAD] Our country is an economic powerhouse in no small part due to our historical support for infrastructure projects. Perhaps more than anyone else, Alaskans know just how vital reliable infrastructure is to stay connected with one another and secure upward economic mobility.

As a medium, photography allows us to capture still images of daily life and preserve them for future generations to enjoy and learn from.

On the 31st Anniversary of the enactment of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), I call on all of us to redouble our efforts to ensure that those with disabilities are afforded dignity and included in every facet of public life. #ADA31 As one of the few current Members of Congress to have voted for the ADA, this is a cause very dear to me. The ADA is one of our greatest accomplishments. Now more than ever, we must protect and strengthen it for generations to come.

[#Vaccine THREAD] Last year, I was proud to help President Trump fund Operation Warp Speed (OWS). This was a crucial team effort, & I'm pleased that it funded research and development by Moderna + Johnson & Johnson, in addition to a $2bil advance purchase agreement w/ Pfizer. These three companies have produced SAFE and EFFECTIVE vaccines for COVID-19. Most importantly, when my colleagues and I funded OWS on an overwhelmingly bipartisan basis, we made sure that they would be available for FREE.

Amid weeks of unsuccessful #infrastructure negotiations, today I'm proud to release my own blueprint.

The Young Plan for America's Infrastructure Future is an ambitious, intellectually honest plan that will revitalize our communities and be responsibly paid for. As former Chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I know how to get big things done.

My plan funds infrastructure at $1.25T -- $500B for hard infrastructure, and $750B for soft infrastructure like broadband, renewable energy, and Member Directed projects.

NEW: I’m happy to announce that THREE of the Member Directed Projects I requested and advocated for have been APPROVED by the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee!

They are: [THREAD] ✅ $8.7 million for the reconstruction of Cowles Street In Fairbanks.

✅ $6.4 million to replace Bridge 114.3, used by the Alaska Railroad, in Anchorage.

✅ $5.6 million for Phase 2 of the Seldon Road Extension in Wasilla.

Today, I helped the House pass the most significant #cannabis reform legislation in decades – the #MOREAct. This bill isn't perfect, but it takes important steps to safeguard our personal liberties and freedom. THREAD: I am a passionate supporter of a states’ rights approach to cannabis policy. For too long, the Federal government has stood in the way of states that have acted to set their own marijuana policy, and it is past time Congress modernized these outdated laws.

There has been much speculation in the media on my current condition, and I want Alaskans to know that their Congressman is alive, feeling better, and on the road to recovery. As you know, last week, I tested positive for COVID-19. Over the weekend, I was admitted to Providence Hospital for treatment and monitoring. The team at Providence did an outstanding job, and their commitment to patient care is to be commended. I have been discharged and continue recovering and working from home in Alaska.
