File under leaving it all on the field: just emailed a major Dem donor I know to say I wasn't amused by his recent headline-making criticisms of Kamala Harris at this point in time. This dude funds my work. If he doesn't get in formation, I'm going to start complaining about him publicly.

A lot of people are rightly criticizing WSJ for euphemistically referring to Elon Musk's alleged pattern of sexual harassment and gender bias as "boundary blurring," but it's still significant that WSJ reported this story and I'll tell you why... In 2021 I was working on a project related to corporate sexual harassment policy, I did an analysis of media coverage, i.e. how much major outlets do or don't cover the issue. Most big news outlets have covered it hundreds of times+ in last 20 years.. I mean, MeToo alone...

Good morning! To encourage Elon Musk to refrain from spreading conspiracy theories & reinstating banned users, I just blocked the Twitter accounts of 500+ big companies. Wanna join me? There are two main ways. Instructions below in this #thread. 👇 The quickest, easiest way is to use a free tool called Bot Block by @oolon who gave new life to a tool called Block Together by Jacob Hoffman-Andrews. I have a custom block list on Bot Block to which you can subscribe w/ just a few clicks... It’s here: theblockbot.com/show-blocks/OL…

Bill Clinton signing the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996 was a real low for Democrats. And it came in the wake of a lot the same panicky “think of the children" fearmongering we’re seeing from DeSantis and co. now. DOMA is a shameful reminder of how much traction that fearmongering got among the left and center. We simply cannot let that kind of thing happen again.

Watching the Michigan Bureau of Elections Board meeting on CSPAN. They're about to vote on certification. c-span.org/video/?478327-… God bless this one grey haired bureaucrat, Christopher Thomas, just absolutely sticking it in the nicest possible impatient dad way to the one dude, Norman Shinkle, who wants to refrain from certifying Michigan's votes today.

Change is never about securing a majority opinion, but making the status quo too heavy a burden to bear. Ivanka can safely talk about women's rights & risk nothing b/c of the women who risked _everything_ before her. The question is not, "how do we get," but what will we risk? Every time Trump does something egregious, I directly ask (not Twitter ask, directly ask) the people who funded that harm how they feel about having done that. We don't begin to understand how much direct pressure can accomplish. businessinsider.com/billionaires-w…

What I'll be doing all day tomorrow. Charles Schwab's PR folks replied "our chairman’s personal political activities are his own, and are separate from The Charles Schwab Corporation and its subsidiaries." That's not how most consumers see it, particularly not when the company is named after its chairman.

Women to Lyft: hi, we were kidnapped and gang raped by several of your drivers.

Lyft to women: Good news, women! We just unpaired you in the app from the drivers who kidnapped and raped you. Have an up-Lyfting day! This quote from @Lyft infuriates me. This is PR speak for "we are not taking responsibility." For a company to invoke the sexual violence women already endure as an excuse for the violence its own drivers are inflicting on them is a SLEAZE move. theverge.com/2019/9/17/2087…

Today I'm proud to announce the launch of #ForceTheIssue, a project aimed at getting 900 large, publicly traded companies to stop using the practice of forced arbitration for sexual harassment. (1/8) If you’ve never heard of forced arbitration it is, in a word, bad. (2/8)

I've always been curious: like, who in the hell do American Nazis / white power idiots / whatever I'm supposed to call them think American fought in World War Two? This one goes out to all the racist, immigrant-hating right wing dickheads out there who think my grandfathers risked their lives to defeat "socialists" in World War Two. cc: @replouiegohmert @RepMoBrooks

Saluting the workers of the world this Labor Day, especially those _having_ to work today. They accumulate wealth on your backs and all their rhetoric about law and order is primarily so they can keep doing that. Workers are the creators of value and workers should write the laws.

I've looked at all the recent CVS news and am not seeing a good reason to be concerned. Subscription service Pill Club seems to be using one particular CVS PAC donation as leverage in a contract dispute w/ CVS. That PAC is controlled by employees not the company or its leaders. I mean, it speaks to the toxicity of the Trump administration that even an employee PAC that gives fairly evenly across the aisle can be implicated, but I honestly think Pill Club is just trying to piggyback on the legitimate SoulCycle outrage in order to get a better rate here.

Business leaders of America: the road to hell is paved with your tax breaks and those kids are still wondering if they'll ever see their parents again. Your interests aren't separate from or superior to the rest of the human race, business leaders. So if you give $ to the racist guy, it doesn't mean a SINGLE THING to me that you gave it for deregulation & tax breaks. Impact > intent.

If you really want to focus your frustration on a retailer today, I recommend it not be the one that was just the site of a terrorist attack and that stopped selling the AR-15 and similar weapons four years ago. I'll include a few you can contact instead in the following Tweet... Here are three retailers that still sell guns to people under 21 years of age, along w/ the most recent PR contact info I have for them:

— Academy Sports allan.rojas@academy.com
— Big 5 Sporting Goods jmills@icrinc.com
— Dunham's Sports palmer@dunhamssports.com

Have removed Yuengling from the #GrabYourWallet boycott list after hearing by email from Wendy Yuengling about the 2020 election.... "As a 6th generation family member of the Yuengling Brewery, I can assure you we are not a political organization. We have not donated to any presidential campaigns in the past, and have no intention of doing so in the 2020 election."

It looks as if perhaps Amazon has abruptly stopped selling Donald Trump's official line of suits. As recently as July 15th, there were still 9 styles available. Not now. There are still 143 other official Donald Trump brand goods for sale on Amazon, but I checked and of the 143 products, 142 are not being sold directly by Amazon. They're being sold by third parties.

Some might call this "railroading" too. I call it refreshing AF. One strike and you're out, bro. This story is from April 2019, by the way. I just think it might help some Franken diehards out there understand just how much things are changing.

Is there anything substantive at all in this Jane Mayer piece on Franken? Because I'm like...750 words in and all I see so far is rehash and conjecture. So far this piece is a crisis comms PR person's dream. I don't get it. Everyone already knew the Tweeden part was a hit job and the rest of this is like... Al Franken is sorry for being too... "tactile?" Why are men's second chances always more important than women's first? This quote from Rebecca Traister at the end is perfect.

Reminder: Amazon still does business with Donald Trump, Alex Jones, and the NRA. #PrimeDayAmazon For those saying they thought NRATV was shutting down, the recent announcement about that was that NRATV would stop producing *new* content. @Amazon still carries the NRATV app which mean it also carries all _existing_ NRATV content: amazon.com/National-Rifle…
