Today was the 2nd Mental Health Day I've taken this week bc the sheer volume of bad news out there was overwhelming. Negatively impacted my mental health. Since I've been asked, I wanted to share some general thoughts from my perspective about what's going on in western NC.🧵 First things first: 1) I speak for myself only & no group, political party, etc. 2) I'm not in WNC - I'm in Charlotte, 2 and a half hours away. We did have some bad flooding in some parts of the city but where I'm at we were fortunate not to have flooding, power outages, etc. 2/

I'd like to alert ppl yet again to the duplicity & hypocrisy of the Charlotte @theobserver's editorial board. On Friday, they published a campaign ad for Gov. @RoyCooperNC's re-election campaign disguised as an informed critique/op-ed of his opponent @LtGovDanForest. #ncpol 1/ The @theobserver op-ed was written in the typical snide tone Republicans expect from them. Guess the ed. board hasn't considered the possibility that the reason they're begging ppl to buy $2/wk subscriptions is bc ppl are fed up w/ being talked down to, but I digress. #ncpol 2/

Just some random thoughts about allegations of "fanning the flames of racism" that frequently get thrown around by the left. "The right" has been accused of racism for as long as I can remember, well before Trump, and oftentimes the only reason the accusation was made was ... .. because the politician being criticized was black. Happen routinely during the Obama administration. There was literally NO criticism a Republican could make of him without a Democrat opportunistically accusing that critic of "racism." It happened over and over and over.

I remember when Rashida Tlaib told Chelsea Clinton she deserved the harassment she got over speaking out against anti-Semitism yet Tlaib thinks the Squad should be insulated from criticism because they might be harassed? This woman is vile and dangerous. This is one of many probs with "The Squad." They're supposed to be able to call you Nazis, child killers, etc but if you attempt to respond they'll tell you you're doing it bc they're WOC & you're putting their lives in danger so shut up. The Squad want to silence you. Period.

Here's what the Judd Legums of the world, in all their "investigative reporting" about #NC09, won't tell you: That there have been complaints about ballot milling in counties in that district that pre-date 2018, and even 2016. Sit back for a bit let me tell you a story. #ncpol 1/ In the fall of 2010, Wilmington-based WWAY TV station did a series on "GOTV" activities in Bladen County - the county which is in the center of the *current* #NC09 storm. Here's the link to that story, which I'll be quoting from extensively: wwaytv3.com/2010/10/01/man… #ncpol 2/

I promised to post on the numbers I crunched earlier today along with some general observations about #NC09 in a tweet storm. Starting it now, will stop for dinner for a bit, then come back to it. Since this story has gone national, ppl want to know more so here goes. #ncpol 1/ First - some overall info: 282,717 ppl cast ballots in the #NC09 race between Harris (R) and McCready (D). As it stands now, the numbers are: 139,246 for Harris and 138,341 for McCready (a difference of 905 votes), and 5,130 for the Libertarian candidate Jeff Scott. #ncpol 2/

"If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a dept. store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. You push back on them. When the Duke lacrosse rape allegations were made, they were presumed guilty bc they were "privileged" drunk white college boys. After charges were dropped & the DA disbarred, I'd hoped the MSM/leftists would have learned some lessons. 12.5 yrs later, sadly, that is not the case. Obviously some of the particulars of the BK/CBF case are different, but the commonality is the "privileged white guy." I was taught growing up it's wrong to assume guilt based on race. The left is making it OK again -but it's not. Nor, in a civilized society, should it ever be.
