Canada's annual Inflation rate crept upward to 3.3% in July, an increase from 2.8% in June, and once again outside the Bank of Canada's target rate of 2% with a range of 1% to 3%.
www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quoti… 'Acceleration in headline consumer inflation was mainly attributable to a base-year effect in gasoline prices, as a large monthly decline in July 2022 (-9.2%) is no longer impacting the 12-month movement. Excluding gasoline, the CPI rose 4.1%, edging up from 4.0% in June.'

'Due to the inherent characteristics of substitutes, the reduction in plastic waste from the six categories of SUPs depicted in Table 6 will have an associated increase in waste from substitutes (e.g., substituting paper for plastic increases material weight).' 'The Regulations are expected to increase the tonnage of waste generated from substitutes by an estimated 275 943 tonnes in 1st year of full policy stringency (2024) or 2.9 million tonnes over the analytical period (2023/2032), almost all driven by paper substitutes.'

The value of the controversy over Trudeau's
'Just Transition Plan' broken by @mindingottawa is that it ends the myth only oil, gas & coal workers will be impacted by his green energy plan: In fact, 7 major sectors of the economy could face “significant” disruptions in employment They are: Oil & gas, transportation, buildings, heavy industry, agriculture, electricity, waste disposal & 'others'

Also, carbon prices don't just impact gasoline & natural gas. They apply to 22 different fuels.

Yeah, Trudeau's 'Just Transition Plan' is going great. Really.

David Webster: Why did Xi scold Trudeau?
Maybe because Canada spent years helping China erode human rights: To see how we got here, look to Chrétien’s Liberal government of the 1990s. Canada was among the world’s top enablers of China's rights violations nationalnewswatch.com/2022/11/18/why… 'Chinese leaders believe they can push Canada around, because Canadian governments have been broadcasting for decades that they don’t mind being pushed around.'

Cara Zwibel, Director of Fundamental Freedoms for the (CCLA): 'This week we have heard from federal officials but none have been able to back up the claim there was a national emergency as defined by the Emergencies Act.' 'The government witnesses to date have admitted that the government did not feel bound by the plain language of the Emergencies Act. Their understanding of what constitutes a threat to national security was broader and included things the Act does not contemplate.'

Trudeau should offend China’s Xi more often
torontosun.com/opinion/column… 'Chinese President Xi Jinping’s fit of pique in accusing PM Justin Trudeau of leaking some innocuous details of a brief talk the pair had at the G20 meeting in Indonesia, is typical of what China does when criticized by other nations. It plays the victim card.'

Seriously?
"Saturday’s (Toronto Star) editorial said the tweets were considered “confusing, hurtful and inflammatory to many, many readers,” and said that many readers considered the display “overly provocative and hateful.” "Many readers thought the statements were the Star’s view, like a front-page editorial; others thought it was the headline to the story, the editorial said. It added that it was accused of “inciting” people against the unvaccinated."
