Real leadership takes honour and courage. And we don’t see much of that from our Prime Minister.

Let’s be clear, the Liberals are using their eighth Budget to fake they care about Australian women when they’ve ignored them in the last seven. A thread.

#Budget21 Much of the funding is simply the continuation of existing programs and services. The Government doesn’t deserve a pat on the back for stopping its own cuts.

The Liberals have spent seven years creating a tradie crisis in Australia – with $3 billion cut from TAFE and training, widespread skills shortages, and 140,000 apprentices and trainees gone. After he’s created such a mess, what’s Scott Morrison’s solution? A phony announcement with no extra funding, no timeframe, and basically no detail.

Like many of you, I’ve been reflecting on the changes COVID-19 is making to our society, our economy and our way of life.

Up until now, everything has happened so quickly. We haven’t had much time to sit back and think about our experiences as a nation. But with the scale of Australia’s challenges, both to our health and our economy, it’s unlikely that society will just ‘snap back’ to how it was before. Some things will change forever.

So what have we learned so far in this crisis?

The Libs announced the location of the 10 industry training hubs after the election was called.

Patriotism, like mateship, is about solidarity. It’s about what we owe each other as citizens. Patriotism is the knowledge that we’re not alone in this life; that our neighbours are there to share our struggles; that we have 25 million people in our corner when we need it.
