If you live in:
Alabama
California
Delaware
Lousiana
Massachusetts
Michigan
Nevada
New York
Pennsylvania

Congrats! You live in a state that has NOT introduced anti-LGBTQ legislation in 2023. But...don't get excited about Alabama or Louisiana. Their sessions haven't started yet.

THIS IS HOW PERVASIVE ANTI-LGBTQ BILLS ARE.

This is why we need every single person to pay attention. The hate will only continue to spread.

Leelah Alcorn would be 25 now. She *should be* 25 now.
Her parents said that she had been trying to assert herself as a girl since the age of 4, and yet they still denied who she was so much that after she died, they buried her in a suit and tie. Image In the 8 years since she asked us to "fix society" so that trans youth could be free and live authentically, we've seen more anti-trans legislation proposed than any of us ever could have imagined.

Crazy story: My 9yo trans child was so proud and confident that they ended up on the cover of National Geographic Magazine (see my cover pic). It was the "Gender Revolution"! But within days, we were doxxed on KiwiFarms. The kind and gentle folks who call themselves Kiwi Farmers decided that I was a groomer pedophile and that Avery would only be "safe" if they exposed our full names, addresses, cell phone numbers, places of work, etc. "to protect the children" dontchaknow.

Last night, I shared what was happening in the Missouri legislature, but this also happened in Missouri yesterday... A message was sent out by the Grain Valley School District (about 20 miles outside of KC) informing residents that Safe Space stickers put up by some teachers were removed.

I logged on to the MO lege live stream at 6pm expecting to see a committee vote through a ban on affirming healthcare for trans youth. But they hadn't been able to meet yet because the House was still debating bills. They've been debating HB 1973 this entire time. It's a very simple bill about school transportation. It reads:

Here are a few things supporters of Missouri's HB 2649, a bill to ban #healthcare for #trans youth, said in today's committee hearing. 🧵 It's a bill to "save children who are struggling to become comfortable w their biological sex."

As my trans teen listening said, they didn't struggle with that. They knew their sex & gender didn’t match. The struggle was getting other people to recognize & affirm their gender.

My daughter wanted to die before she socially transitioned. Literally. She even tried to jump out of the car while we were traveling on the highway.

It would have been abusive... out.com/politics/2019/… It would have been abusive for us as her parents to allow her to sit in that kind of pain, depression, & despair. It would have been abusive for us to pretend we didn't see how much she was hurting or deny her the chance to meet with counselors and therapists who could help her.

Know what “scandalous” screen grabs you won’t see stolen and posted from closed support groups for parents of trans youth? 1. A mom share that her teen who had been depressed and cutting for years finally stopped when he told his therapist he was trans, worked with doctors on a transition plan, and started living authentically.
