i have been made aware of the study "#Afghanistan: Lessons learnt from 20 years of supporting democracy, development and security" (europarl.europa.eu/RegData/etudes…) highlighted by author @ozhassan of @tepsaeu as the "first official" one of this kind "published outside of the US". 2/x i only read some of it so far, but have concerns already:
1 - if the stated objective of this study was to evaluate "why international efforts in Afghanistan have failed to produce a secure, prosperous and democratic state capable of maintaining a stable development pathway", 3/x

reading #Afghanistan stuff (2), a theatre critics column (in german):

i doubt the problem with #Afghanistan’s government is that it is centralistic. it is dysfunctional (in serving the people) because it is self-centred. proof is the wrangling again over cabinet, governors, new peace council – a reflection of 2014-19. 2/10
@jmurtazashvili @BRR 2/10 this is not about an *abstract* government. A centralised government could function if it were transparent, responsible, democratic – and take care of all afghans, including ‘minorities’. a decentralised government could also be corrupt and dysfunctional. 3/10
