BREAKING: A new Texas report shows that an armed Uvalde officer, the first to arrive at Robb Elementary School on May 24 asked for permission to shoot the gunman while he was outside the school, but never heard an answer from his supervisor. The report released today provides new details and criticism about the level of safety for the school and mistakes made in the response.

Did I just sleep through a statewide emergency prep PR campaign last week that advised Texans to gas up, stock up ahead of this storm. Oh, that's right, there wasn't one. But #ifthiswereahurricane, we'd have flashing TxDOT signs, alerts, because Texas does *do* that. Also trying to understand a grid that pays its executives north of $200K, and its CEO $800K-plus why possible scenarios weren't relayed to utilities, say last weekend. Weather was predicted accurately.

Lot of you have been without far longer than me (28+ hours). You're exhausted by the pandemic, exhausted by this event where you just want some damn heat. You're exhausted by no gas at the gas station, by lines 100 people deep to get into the one open grocery store. I got neighbors boiling snow on gas stoves to keep dishes clean because pipes are frozen. People are homeless in this. People will die because of this. We are all seething. I get it. And trust me the state's reporters are already surgically at work to unpack this disaster...

As a reader, I want a map with where the immigrant kids are, name of contractor, how much paid so far this year by fed taxpayers, how many kids detained. #makeithappen @DallasLoveField I want to know EVERYTHING re these contractors. What kind of license they possess or last inspection to care for kids. I want to know who their CEOs are, what lawmakers take their money.
