I'm a type 1 diabetic in Alberta land of the "free healthcare". The medications I need to take multiple times a day, every day, just to live are anything but free.

The whole system is a racket designed to rip people off, and we all pay for it. Take blood sugar test strips. Retail price is over a dollar per strip. These are one of the most shoplifted items in the US - they're worth more than gold.

I can't treat without info, and every time I test by blood sugar, I'm throwing a loonie in the trash. Min 8 times/day.
