#Medical rant 1: I went to the #doctor today for neck pain. My former primary care physician left the practice and they assigned me to this new guy. He is not great.
#Medical 2: This #doctor was running an hour behind, despite having a number of appointment times available when I scheduled last night. After meeting him, I'm not surprised he had a ton of openings; I suspect he doesn't have many patients.
#Medical 3: I told him my symptoms (stiff neck & limited range of motion for 3 days), and said that I couldn't think of anything I had done in the past few weeks that would have brought this on.
#Medical 4: The #doctor diagnosed it as torticollus. He didn't elaborate until I asked what that meant. "Stiff neck," he explained. "I can't tell you what caused it; you know what caused it." Again, no, I don't.
#Medical 5: He then lamented the fact that I am #breastfeeding, so he couldn't prescribe me a muscle relaxant. Lamented. He said, "Darn; it's too bad you're breastfeeding" multiple times. #badbedsidemanner #parenting
#Medical 6: The #doctor gave me some neck stretches to do and said, "Don't push yourself. You don't have to be like Schwarzenegger. Do you know who that is?" "Yes," I said, annoyed at his #ageism, "he's the Terminator." See also: Jingle All the Way, Mr. Freeze, Governor of CA...
#Medical 6 cont: Continuing Schwarzenegger's filmography just off the top of my head: Kindergarten Cop, that one where he's pregnant, that one with Danny Devito...Predator!
#Medical 7: Apparently, 30 years old is too young to know Arnold Schwarzenegger? The #doctor also asked if I know what a flux capacitor is. Yes, #BackToTheFuture is a classic and also how did this guy pass medical school? #ageism
#Medical 8: But his #nurse was very nice and she gave me a #flushot while I was there, so hurray for nurses! /end rant/
