Dear Parents,
Wearing your little girls sexy dresses will not teach them decency when they grow up, treating your wife with no respect will teach your little boys how to disrespect women when they grow up!
Can we talk about this tonight, do you think the way children are raised could be the cause of indecency and mannerless in the society?
How can you wear your little girls short tight dresses, exposing their laps and chests and expect them to grow into modest, godly ladies?

1/ Did you know less than 1% of deaths during this pandemic were children?

What public health authorities consider a "COVID death":
✔️ Death confirmed with positive COVID lab result
✔️Assumed case with no lab test ⬅️

The media will not tell you that! Let's look at more data...
2/ Influenza-associated pediatric mortality reported by the CDC ranges from 110 to 187 deaths over 2016-2020.

On a conservative analysis, 110 deaths from the seasonal flu is *nowhere* comparable to the ~76 deaths which have occurred due to COVID that includes assumed cases.
3/ What we know…

Deaths of children (less than 15 y/o):
COvid: 45
Non-CO: 13,088

Deaths of entire US pop:
CO: 142,164
Non-CO: 1,448,780

For every 100,000 US death (other causes), 900 children died (other causes)
For every 100,000 US death (CO), ~2.83 children died (CO)

THREAD: Ex-partner has emailed me to tell she’s confiscated their tech last night and so won’t be contactable today, when we normally have a phone/Skype call this evening.
No suggestion of alternative.
This in the context of talking about importance to maintain contact just weeks ago, to remove barriers, and how tricky it can be to get in touch with them via eldest’s mobile and younger two’s Skype accounts
and how difficult it has been during lockdown when I wasn’t able to see them for months due to restrictions. That I’m trying to ensure regular contact, like I always have, in between now only seeing them on Saturdays.

1) We recently wrote to .@GavinWilliamson to share parents’ concerns at the resources that are being promoted by their children’s schools: resources that they have been directed to by the @educationgovuk Image
2)We asked him to stop promoting resources that undermine child #safeguarding; to remove links to these organisations; and to review how DfE promote organisations and resources so that child safeguarding is always prioritised.
3)We gave him examples such as @thedaytweets PSHE activity which described .@jk_rowling as ‘deeply unpleasant’, ‘harming minorities’, and a ‘bad person’ who ‘has done something terrible’. It is listed here as a resource recommended by the government:… Image

A consistent pattern has appeared in children presenting at clinic.
I suspect that it is true for non clinic population too.

Details -
Typical presentation - both parents now working from home, schools online, tuition classes online, hobby classes online, playgrounds and outdoors closed for over 3 months now.
Parents report enormous increase in work hours due to all the "meetings" they have to attend online.
Most report that their work hours are now more than previous work hours + commute time!!

Let's have a convo about how many of us parents (esp but not only white people) set up our kids to see the police as good, neutral, or 'keeping us safe'. a thread

Recently I walked by some preschool kids playing with a cop car. Just seeing this, THIS WEEK esp, feels so violent.
Would we go along with our kids playing 'slave catcher' or 'ICE agent'? Probably not (I hope)
How is it that white people esp grow up to be so ignorant about racism? Part of it is privilege, not being targeted by racism, living segregated lives, not being forced to see and talk about white supremacy for what it is, including how we embody it.

It appears that more than the 1 in 5 Americans struggle with their mental health in a given year.

#careeradvice #parenting #India

In India lot of parents are interested in future career choices of their kids from a very early age. This desire to find out "gifted" domain of child drives parents to many irrational and outright harmful paths.
This thread is to help you if this question about child's future keeps you awake at night.

i want to stop you from being an emotional idiot and be harmed by scams.
Most parents tend to believe following things (traps)-
1. Everyone we know is doing it. Yes. Most Indians buy money back policies too. we are hardly a sensible herd!

Sometimes it's hard to be the parent my #autistic son needs me to be, & I’m always learning about best & better practices. But I wish the research that could help him was better, too.

This is going to be a thread based on a recent @AutismOAR post:…

@AutismOAR How is it that my #autistic son is nineteen years old? How is he not still the cute little dude who used to fit on my lap; how is it that he is now so much bigger than me that I am now wearing his hand-me-downs? #parenting #autism #Neurodiversity

@AutismOAR Time flies just as fast when parenting an autistic child as with any child, which is a truism I wish I’d been told when my son was diagnosed as autistic almost sixteen years ago. What else have I discovered about raising an autistic child? 3/

Today I want to talk about how ‘Autism Warrior Parents’ Harm Autistic Kids. These thoughts are from an evergreen article I wrote for the dearly departed Establishment:…

This is going to be a thread.

#autism #parenting #Neurodiversity 1/
Parenting approaches differ, but mostly, everything we consider “good parenting” fulfills two basic needs: It makes children feel safe, and it makes them feel loved. Parents and non-parents alike tend to scorn any parenting approach that doesn’t meet these goals. #autism 2/
…That is, unless the kids in question are #autistic—in which case parents are too often encouraged to pursue approaches that traumatize & alienate their kids. I call these types “Autism Warrior Parents,” & people caring for autistic kids can learn a lot from their mistakes. 3/

1/So there was lots of talk at @AACNursing #AACNdoc20 re: #Nursing #PhD pipeline, getting folx esp prelicensure students ‘excited’ about #nursingscience & the #BStoPhD

I totally revamped our #nursingresearch & #innovation course @UMassAmherst last fall to do just that

2/ I told the Asst Dean when I took it on that regardless of the learning objectives for the course I had only 1 GOAL:

That by the end of the semester, these students would be EXCITED!-or at very least, just a little bit CURIOUS-about a career in #nursingscience & #innovation
3/ A note about context: This was a course of ~85 Accel BS students, taught in an urban campus that is geographically ~40mins drive from main @UMassAmherst campus, in the . The classroom assigned had no windows. Class ran 8am-1030am Weds, before more courses. I say this b/c....

In Paw patrol tower alarms sound the tower shakes. Ryder looks out to the sea where the reason for the emergency call goes out.
"No job is too big, no pup is too small..." he mumbles through numb lips as the shadow of Godzilla falls over him.
As the tower crumbles around them he calls for the only help that may be able to save them. The ruins of the tower behind him Godzilla plods toward the city but his cry is met by the thunder of a bark as a red mass rises over the city. 2/3

I want to talk about the perils of “new age parenting”. Some of the new “trends” are detrimental to children’s development.

One that’s very common is blending food for babies beyond 8-9months.

This is wrong &delays child’s development.

#Parenting #BabyFeeding #BustingMyths
You find kids at >12mnths still eating finely blended food. Introduction of solids is often between 4-6mo. Starting w finely blended foods.

Kids need to start eating more texturized foods frm 7-9mo. After this, it can be difficult as they have developed habit of not chewing.
This over blending can be due to many reasons.
I see the “parenting by fear” trend that is telling parents kids will choke on food.
Or maybe it’s just trendy to say I bought blender “xyz”;
Or that “you know my baby is so fussy/ is a lazy chewer”

Trends where parents don’t PARENT

BBC Tells Kids 'People Can Go to Prison' For Disrespecting 'More Than 100' Gender Identities… #Parenting via @pjmedia_com
