So some interesting stuff coming out of @NHSEngland's board meeting today (well, interesting for those of us with a passion for procurement......). Seems like the beginning of a move by against outsourcing in the #nhs to accompany the #NHSLongTermPlan /1
"We are concerned that the comparative weight that current legislation gives to competition will act as a drag on efforts to improve collaboration between NHS bodies and provide integrated care" #NHS #reformhealth bit.ly/2Vqizyn /2
Then goes on to call for the removal of article 75 Health and Social Care Act (which gives the CMA a role in observing NHS transactions) and removing NHS commissioning from the Public Contracts Regulations - all in efforts to make #NHSLongTermPlan feasible /3
Finally, it recommends the introduction of a new "best value" test (no clarity on what), the promotion of integrated care systems (no surprise there), and changes to the national tarriff, from fixed to formula pricing. #nhs /4
None of this is particularly surprising but it still seems to be a big contrast to what is coming out of the @cabinetofficeuk in recent months. If ministers get behind it, this could be the biggest shake up within #NHS contracts for several years. /5
