1/9 RE #CDNpoli dust-up surrounding Justin Trudeau & Jerry Dias

Few problems facing a democracy have black-&-white solutions

Answer to Conservative domination of #CDNmedia mgmt & ownership is not the opposing politicization of journalists

#PressFreedom isn't a partisan brand

2/9 Likewise, the answer to digital disruption of the #CDNmedia market isn't pumping the industry full of taxpayer dollars to subsidize a near-obsolete legacy

One of #CDNpoli's greatest problems is holding onto the past & digging its heels in to stall & oppress the future

3/9 We see this same #CDNpoli fear & obstinance in the #energy industry, #Indigenous reconciliation, as well as other significant files like #transit

And the reason remains propping up a business culture that is severely averse to #innovation, despite half-hearted talking points

4/9 Due to unique challenges facing #CDNpoli that arise from our massive geography & sparse population, it made sense to put all our eggs in singular economic baskets to get the job done

But that thinking & wealth is now stuck in the 1950's & it doesn't mesh with modern reality

5/9 In this struggle to preserve the past & its historically wealthy figureheads, we also fuel a Conservative mindset that plays out on the political stage - to the surprise of a global community that once deemed #CDNpoli progressive for its ability to accomplish the impossible

6/9 But we're now at a crossroads between the past & future, because our measures to stall #CDNpoli progress have become untenable in a globalized economy & intellectual community

And in that battle for hearts & minds to remain in the 1950's, #CDNmedia became the first hostage

7/9 This is also why the Liberal brand of politics is sometimes hypocritical, because it's straddling a line between the past & future with all the dinosaurs kicking & screaming

Those dinosaurs are the primary $$ backers of political campaigns & they sought control of #CDNmedia

8/9 #CDNpoli & #CDNmedia further fail to recognize the labour left (NDP, unions) is indentured to the same right-wing capital that abhors the future & doesn't yet know how to cope with it

Because all resources on the left & right are dedicated to entrenching the status quo

9/9 Ultimately #CDNmedia is a canary in the coal mine because of its role as the public arbiter

But due to layers of #CDNpoli interference & refusal to embrace a more diverse future, all are behaving badly & advancing a proxy war via journalists - at the cost of #PressFreedom
