Last week, July 1-7, the #AlarmPhone worked on four distress situations in the western #Mediterranean region. One boat was rescued to #Spain while three were returned to #Morocco. (1)
On July 1, we were alerted to a #boat with 57 people on board, including seven women, who had left from Nador, #Morocco. In the evening we received the confirmation that the Spanish search and rescue organisation @CGTsalvamento had rescued the group. (2)
On July 4, we were alerted to 2 boats trying to reach #Spain. 1st boat carried 7 ppl (incl. 1 woman) left from #Tangier & was later intercepted by the Moroccan Navy. 2nd boat , 57 ppl on board (incl. 4 women) left from Nador, and was also later returned to #Morocco by its navy(3)
On July 5, we were alerted to one #boat in distress, carrying 9 people. They had left from #Achakar and were later found and returned to #Morocco by the Moroccan Royal Navy. (4)
During the week we also received info. about two further #migrant boats without being able to directly intervene: On July 3, 35 ppl left from #Nador and were later returned to #Morocco. On July 5, 50 ppl were rescued by @CGTsalvamento and brought to #Almeria in #Spain. (5)
