The bizarre events which occurred during the Battle of Las Angeles in 1942 still causes some confusion on what really happened that evening on Feb 24

When the US navy picked up an approaching enemy on radar, air raid sirens sounded & a citywide blackout was put into effect. 📡

Within minutes, troops had manned anti-aircraft guns and begun sweeping the skies with searchlights until 3am when the shooting started...

“Powerful searchlights from countless stations stabbed the sky with brilliant probing fingers,”

the Los Angeles Times wrote,

“while anti-aircraft batteries dotted the heavens with beautiful, if sinister, orange bursts of shrapnel.”

The morning after pumping 1,400 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition into the sky, the American Military realized...there was no evidence of counter attacks from last nights invader..

In fact, all the damage which had been done was just from friendly fire

While at the time there were reports of a UFO being seen, many in the mainstream insists it was either the Japanese military (with it happening right after Pearl Harbor) or our classic weather balloon (because they've never said that one before) 🎈
