Thread on the increased federal funding for #Medicaid & those trying to take away people's health coverage during a public health crisis ⬇️⬇️

cbpp.org/blog/congress-…

States received a significant temporary increase in federal #Medicaid funding in the bipartisan #FamiliesFirst #Coronavirus Response Act.

In exchange for this increase in federal funding, states can’t take away people’s coverage or impose new restrictions.

Now, some policymakers are trying to eliminate these protections again. Congress should again reject these attempts, which could cost hundreds of thousands of people (or more) their health insurance in the midst of the #COVID19 pandemic & severe economic downturn.

It’s reasonable for the federal government to require states not to take away people’s health coverage or make it harder for them to enroll during this public health emergency.

These requirements are crucial to protecting health care for both those covered by #Medicaid today & those who will need Medicaid as they lose jobs or incomes in coming months.
