Great piece on the „German Exception“ in #COVID19 death rate. I don‘t fully agree with @hendrikstreeck - contact tracing was always strong in Germany. This has been routine procedure for any outbreak (measles, TB, ...) not only #coronavirus and 1/n nytimes.com/2020/04/04/wor…
it has been performed early on. This is actually one reason why so many inapparent cases have been identified from the beginning!
On a general note: I do see that also the German health system has its weaknesses and suffered from regrettable political / economic 2/n
decisions particularly over the last 15 years. But seriously: its hard to bear with the continuous rant within Germany about just how badly prepared we are! If the British and Americans enviously look over to us, it cannot be all that horrible! 3/4
Now let‘s just keep our fingers🤞 for all of us (not only Germany) and hope the worst can still be prevented! There are places who have already suffered alot- let‘s do our best to keep that from happening elsewhere and let‘s help 🇮🇹, 🇪🇸, 🇫🇷 &Co as much as we can!
