Residents in Ruai and Kariobangi were shocked waking up to demolitions on what is alleged to be disputed land.
The problem is the demolitions occuring during a pandemic with no way forward for residents.

The demolitions are wrong on grounds that currently we are battling a pandemic. Leaving citizens unhabited contradicts all directives of social distancing, and staying at home. It also increases risk of exposure of persons in the community to #COVID19
While the courts had asked for status quo to be maintained till an official decision was made, the state in contempt of the court ruling carried out the demolitions overnight with no directives on what's to happen to citizens.
Going against court directives is not new in Kenya.
The state is responsible for ensuring citizens have adequate access to shelter, housing and security but the demolitions are a threat to select citizens enjoying their rights.
The state should provide alternatives for housing, and provide reliefs to people who cannot self sustain
The residents now have to worry about #COVID19 , #foodinsecurity , #PoliceBrutality & lack of housing amongst other issues of concern in the community
How can we help easen the burden citizens who are now left in the streets?

What is the state of residents whose houses weredemolished?
What is the position of the govt in catering for their safety and sustainability?
How are they surviving?
