Had a very insightful discussion with Prof. Ravi Nanjundiah, Director of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology and the team of Sr. Scientists at @iitmpune to understand both the Short Range & Extended Range Forecast of Rain for #Pune and surrounding catchment areas. (1/5)
Due to lack of rain in #July, citizens are fearful of a drought like situation in #Pune that may just add to the distress to society caused due to the pandemic.
I am happy to share that scientists at @iitmpune are confident of a normal & above rainfall for Pune, MH & India (2/5)
Several citizens had requested me to explore the possibility of Cloud Seeding before we lose the cloud cover. The researchers at @iitmpune have assured me that we should soon see good rainfall across the city and the state, and there is absolutely no reason for Panic. (3/5)
Sr. Scientists @iitmpune also shared with me complications involved in #CloudSeeding & nascent stage of its understanding. Researchers are experimenting on CAIPEEX Cloud Seeding since 2017 in MH to understand feasibility for clouds found in our region & establish guidelines.(4/5)
I also took this opportunity to get some of my queries answered by this eminent group of scientists from @iitmpune ; like co-relation between climate pattern & potency of #COVID19, the effect of lock down on the #pollution levels and long term outlook on #ClimateChange. (5/5)
